Currently messing around improving the oldTriumph Hi Fi stack (ooh err)
Anyway , got a nice pair of Mission speakers either side of the room , and the stack is next to the large Sony Bravia tv.
I would like to put the audio through the hi fi and have put a 3.5 ml jack plug into the tv and into the aux phono plugs.
Thats great but its does not sound right with no volume from the centre ! !

Would I be ok to clip the 8 ohm mini speakers from an old panasonic tv (the Mission are 8 ohm) into the SAME bare wire connectors on the amp as the missions ??
The amp has a switch for another set of speakers but thats either set 1 or 2 if you know what I mean.
Not going to be loads of volume but wold that be ok if I didnt over do it ( amp rated at 220 watts 50 watt per channel)

You need to work out what overall speaker impedance you are offering to the amplifier section. I'd suggest not going below 4 ohms.

There is a dodge that usually works if you want to get a bit of centre information into the speaker image and it's normally OK on far eastern amplifiers as they tend to share a common speaker negative. Buy a pair of cheap 8 ohm midrange drivers, or very small full range units (eBay?), Just mount them on a small open baffle, wire each + to + on the amp speaker terminals (one right, one left), join the midrange unit - connections and insert an 8 ohm power resistor or 4 ohm 'L' pad, which would allow you to adjust level (5 watt rating should do) in series and connect to either - terminal on the amp. Use the midrange units centrally (one above the other?) between the main speakers and and you'll have a 'filled in' central image. This a variation on the old Hafler rear/ambient speaker circuit.

If you want a centre why not look on ebay for a cheap AV Receiver?, there's plenty on there.

I have a sony bravia tv and used to feed the stereo output to my amp via the headphone output as you are doing.
the sound as I remember was fair but lacking in dynamic range.
if you can live without extra speakers a better solution would be to buy a cheap DAC and feed it the optical out from your sony.
I got hold of a CYP AU-D3 (it says on the back!!) from superf.(.they are also stocked in richer sounds)..and although a tiny unit about the size of a box of match's costing less than 40 quid, the sound was MUCH improved.
