I have a shielded LappKabel cable . I´m doing a DIY power cord from the LappKabel , but I have a doubt. The shield raises the cable capacitance, which some suggest is not good...I need to connect shield of shielded cable to earth ground, but if I would prefer not to connect it, doesn´t the capacitance raise?I prefer a cable with lower capacitance!

Is this a mains cable? If it is, I wouldn't worry about the capacitance.

Is this a mains cable?
Yes, it is!
The tiny amount of capacitance a shielded mains lead generates compared with unshielded wont affect the signal in any way, shape or form since it isn't in the signal path.

I asked Paul Darwin from Rega if the Reference Rega power cord was a Lapp Kabel, but he suggests is not!He doesn´t say is not, but don´t confirm which cable is!
Someone on PFM has just recently asked whether the Rega cable is made by Lapp. In response, a Rega mains cable owner has posted that his has Lapp Olflex printed on the side of it - which doesn't leave much room for debate on who makes the cable Rega use.

Yes, it is a Lapp Kabel!
I made my own from Lapp, they work fine.

How much did you spent with the IEC and Schuko plugs?I spent 6 € with mines!

I used MK toughplugs and Martin Kaiser IECs, think I spent about 10quid per cable by the time they were delivered.
I ended up giving one to pal who has a Rega amp and kept the other for myself.
At the moment though I'm using some black rhodium cable with silver martin kaiser and MK plugs. I like these best.

My IEC is a CP-22S and I think only accept cables of 3*1 mm2. Is there any problem to solder a 3*1,5 mm2 cable?A friend of mine told me that no problem to cause mechanical stress, because it is a solder contact!
