From the beginning.

Hello all.

This is the beginning of my tenure here and the first time I have ever shown pics of some of my stuff. Although a friend did post a simple thing I did while he was by to visit and listen to a few dacs I had .


Now onto my new office system.

A list of what will be there now, some stuff may be updated by the time it's done.

Speakers main set infinity IRS V. Yes the old big ones. Secondary for surround sound various infinity fronts sides , rear and subs. The main infinities will not be part of the surround system . A complete 7.1 system with a Denon AVR5805 CI is for surround only.
Main two channel is the infinities driven by as of now Aragons 8008BB. I have a active cross over I can use
By DEQX to make it a 3 way active cross over . But I am not sure it's going to good until it's set up as the with internal cross overs. And then the trial of active.

The room will be built for the purpose my first to have. Room dementions are 9 feet high by 19 wide and 35 feet deep to couch about 40 feet in total depth .

CPU driven digital audio all out battery music server my design win ser 2012. High end audio audio optimizer . CPU xion 3.5 running core mode. The core mode is new to me and wow is it worth doing.

No preamp as yet picked .

DACS. A few
Ps audio DS
MSB platinum stack and umt plus with dual transport psu and diamond psu for DAC. DAC has the galaxy 2 44 femto clock.
And finally my new top dog toy the LAMPI BIG 7.

The room will have ps audio P10,s and P5 powering the show . Also all dedicated power .

Hi Al, I'm not sure I understand everything you have written here. Are you saying you have a custom built room or that you are having one built?

Also, if I understand correctly, you are saying you have an active crossover but you don't think it is adjusted correctly and so are using a passive crossover?

First off the room is an existing room that had been
Completely gutted by one if my me.
The dimensions I stated above.
The room will be constructed for the audio purpose.

The speakers have the existing passive cross over.
I also own a set of infinity RS 1B. The little brother to the irs V

Those have been used with the active cross over
The deqx new model. They are currently working.
But as the cross overs are old I will try the active one.
At some point.

The passive crossovers could be updated; it depends what components they use though, even though they are old they may be perfectly OK.

I showed these to the missus and asked if I could get a pair, her answer was unprintable :D

Yes that's them the last rendition as the V
The woofers are servo controlled and each have the own 2K amp.
There is not much to the cross over they are wonder caps I think.
I have loads of documentation on them.

Not them. I had the betas a while back. The ones I have we're pictured in the post here form someone else .
The pic makes them look small. They are actually 7 1/2 feet high . Google ps audio Paul and he is there next to them and you get a much better idea .

For clarity, that picture I posted is just one I found on the Internet, it's not of Al's actual system.

Regarding the old passive crossover - I see it uses all polyprop capacitors (Solen and Wondercap) so, despite its age, I doubt it sounds much different than when it was new.

The IRS is a hell of a lot of speaker though :).

They were Harry Pearson's (former publisher of The Absolute Sound magazine) choice of speaker.

Judging by the bookshelf, the owner of the pair shown would seem to prefer his source material to be on tape.
