Hi from Norfolk - back to vinyl!

Hi folks - I'm John, ancient, retired living in the depths of rural Norfolk. Over the last 45 years I've owned a lot of stereo equipment - some of it Hi-Fi! I started with a Garrard autochanger, Eagle amp, and two speakers from an old radio mounted on cardboard baffles. Sounds rubbish, but I was 20, a student and broke; and strangely had one of my most memorable listening experiences on that poor old set-up when I discovered Beethoven's late quartets. Made me realise that the equipment isn't all that important - it's the music that counts. Over the years I've had built my own speakers, mucked about with third-channel sound, had a variety of amps, tuners, decks, cassette decks, cd players, and speakers, notably old ARs from the US via the Tottenham Court Road. I currently have an ATLP120 deck with an AT120e cartridge, Denon M39DAB receiver, Tannoy Mercurys on stands, and a vinyl disc washing machine - yep, I'm resurrecting some of the hundreds of LPs which have been gathering cobwebs in the garage for the last 12 years. I've had better-specced amps than the Denon, and decent tuners, and bigger speakers, but space dictates . . .

Really enjoying listening to some great old recordings of classical music from the two-microphone era, and some later pop/rock like Dire Straits, Ian Dury, Springsteen etc. It's the turntable and cartridge and tweaks thereto which I'm currently most interested in and why I've signed up - - - that and the general chat.
