Hi Mark, welcome to AoS :) What's your taste in music?
Welcome to AoS, Mark. Pretty serious system you have there, a good example of the mix n match approach.

Hi,
thanks for your welcomes.
In terms of musical taste, it's quite varied - my wife would say eclectic. It ranges from classical, opera, prog rock, a bit of punk, jazz. Quite a wide gamut really.
As far as the system is concerned, it has evolved over three decades. For example, the LP12 dates back to 1980 but has been upgraded over time. The most recent upgrades were the Lingo (second-hand) and cartridge.
The preamp is my pride and joy. It is a fabulous piece of equipment. In fact, I have been saving hard for a new power amplifier and will soon be taking delivery of a Tron Atlantic power amp.
Graham Tricker brought his demonstrator around a month ago. I was quite concerned that at a 'mere' 10 WPC it wouldn't be powerful enough for the PMCs, but that notion was disavowed very quickly indeed.
We had a really interesting discussion on where to take the system next, as and when funds permit. A cartridge upgrade and arm rewire were recommended and then look at improving the loudspeakers. But as they are only a couple of years old, that's not going to happen for quite some time.
Welcome to AoS Mark.
Nice system and a good broad range of musical tastes. Just what we like to read here! :)
Enjoy the Forum

Hi Mark, welcome from me too.
I didn't know there were any "deepest, darkest" bits of Wiltshire. :)
It's a lovely place, one of the prettiest counties in England.
You certainly will have been saving hard. The Tron Atlantic costs as much as a new car.
Enjoy AOS,
Geoff.

Hi Geoff,
Wiltshire is a lovely county.
Yes, the Atlantic isn't cheap, but I tend to keep my gear for a long time and I fully expect that it will last me well into my dotage. Moreover, there is something very nice about having something hand-made for oneself.
The Exposure VIII is over 20 years old, so is due for replacement. The Seven pre replaced an Exposure IX/XI preamp and power supply.
So, by the time the Atlantic does arrive, hopefully later this month, then I will be on my fourth amplifier in over 30 years of Hifi.
Previous amps were A&R Cambridge A60 and a Quad 34/405II
The PMCs are my fourth set of speakers in that time - the other having been Celef Domestic II supers, Celestion SL6 and Ruark Talisman, which I had for 20+ years.

Marco.
Now, that's not a bad idea. When the Atlantic arrives and is settled in, I'd be very happy to show it off to fellow Moonrakers.
Thanks for the welcome Marco. Posts now into double-figures...The forum seems to be a pretty friendly bunch and there are quite a few names I recognise...
