A true comic genius and a fine actor has left us today of his own accord. William's himself might have joked that he died of John Belushi syndrome "except my sell by date was longer". William's had battled drug and alcohol problems for most of his career and also bouts of severe depression. Self-deprecation of his plight often found its way into his stand-up routines which were delivered with his usual verve, vigour and side-splitting gusto. And yet tragically, under the finely crafted layers of mirth Williams couldn't quite mask his own pain and anguish. I truly admired the man for his talent and honesty and would dearly have liked to have met him.

Nanu Nanu Robin, the emergency exits are HERE....HERE...HERE...HERE,HERE,HERE,HEREHEREHERE AND HERE!!!

Awful news :(

Shocked and just can't imagine the world of pain he was in to feel this was the only/final way to deal with that suffering. Words fail me........

Thank you for Mork, The Fisher King, Good Morning Vietnam

A shame. He was brilliant. 'Good Will Hunting' and especially 'Awakenings' are two of my favourite movies, tremendous acting.

Awakenings had me and the missus in tears, such a powerful performance in a film with a powerful message. As much as I enjoy his comedy output it is his acting brilliance which shone most brightly. A man who knew his demons intimately and who fought them courageously, but ultimately they were to be his nemesis.

The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long - and you have burned so very, very brightly.

Very sad news indeed.
Extraordinary thing is that so many people have different favourite RW films. Mine is Awakenings, my wife Good Will Hunting.
Heard some GMV clips on the radio last night and laughed out loud. Had a look on youtube to hear them again and noted a very nice pair of 401's with SME 3009's. Besides a closing track that had not yet been released, clearly put audio taste before accuracy.
My wife grew up with Mork and Mindy and was almost in tears this morning.

Yup, he was great. One of my favourite was What Dreams May Come, I might rewatch it soon.
