Widely regarded as one of the finest tuner designs around. However, I never listen to the radio and don't have room on my rack for it at present so it seems a shame to let it rot in the cupboard.
This example came to me not working. It was taken to a well known independant Audiolab specialist where it had a substantial amount of work to bring it back up to scratch.
This included the following:
Serviced
Replacement of many of the electrolytic capacitors. The 8000T has a common problem with capacitors on the 15V rail leaking. This was the case with mine and all these have been replaced. There are a few small marks on the board from the electrolyte but any affected components were replaced at the same time.
New stereo decoder chip
New display bulbs
It is now in very good cosmetic and functional condition. The facia panel is excellent and the top case is pretty good. There are a couple of resin marks on the top from the 'Alpha Dot' security marking that a previous owner felt the need for.
I had thought that it was a bit slow to drop into stereo when you turned it on but I was only using an internal antenna. I tried a different one and it's fine on that.
Pictures shown are only with an internal wire antenna hence the half signal strength. Stills pulls a decent stereo signal on the major stations even just with that.
UK model with correct aerial socket.
I don't have a box for this and given how much work it's had, I don't really want to post it just to have a courier break it.
It would therefore need collecting from Bicester please.
Supplied with an FM indoor wire antenna.
£200 seems about the going rate for a decent one. This has already had the key work that an unknown ebay purchase might require.
