That looks great.

Can 8 track actually be made to sound good as a medium ?

Wow that's amazing.
I used to repair 8 track car audio for a living in my yoof. Some of it sounded pretty good in the more expensive cars.
The tape speed is 3 and 3/4 inches per second, so twice that of cassette.

That does look amazing. I still have a few 8 track tapes knocking about. First time i listened to Space Ritual was on 8 track.

3M Wollensak made an 8track recorder that was as good as El-Cassette in terms of sound quality, used one in the studio way, way, waaaaaay back and I had one at home to makes tapes for the car. This looks interesting, if I had the room.

Never seen one f those either....

My dad loved his 8 track in his car so much, when it came to getting a new motor and it came with casete he was unimpressed, and got the old 8 track taken out and fiiied out to work in the house. got the works dept to build the case and the the tv dept to fix up the psu etc....it actually worked rather well, and lasted for years....sounded great in the car though, which was high end. one of the large body old v8 rovers .
