View Full Version : Hello
Erlend here, from Bergen, Norway.
Densen B-110. Speakers not yet bought, the plan is Dynaudio Contour S1.4 in a while, but I need something temporary. I'll probably go with Q Acoustic Concept 20 (got lots of praise in What Hifi). Have also been considering the new Monitor Audio Silver 1 or 2, and the good old Krix Equinox MKII, as speakers while I save up and wait for a good deal on used Contours. Feel free to post advice on interim speakers!
Ended up here because I'm getting the Caiman MKII. I was considering the Arcam irDAC too, but that's almost double the price, and I suspect the new Caiman is a far better deal (feel free to confirm/deny).
Huge fan of Elliott Smith and Radiohead, and collect vintage watches.
Welcome to AoS Erlend.
You have come to the right place for information on the Caiman DACs: we have many users here, who will be glad to answer any questions you may have.
Hope you enjoy your new speakers, though I ought to add that many do not regard "What Hi Fi" as being a serious audio magazine.
What is in your collection of vintage watches? We have a few members here who are amateur horologists.
Enjoy the Forum

Hei Erlend, welcome to the forum
Hope you enjoy your new speakers, though I ought to add that many do not regard "What Hi Fi" as being a serious audio magazine.I haven't bought the Q 20s yet, so feel free to advice on speakers! Monitor Audio Silver is another option I'm considering. Where do you go for serious audio info on speakers? I need a decent pair of sub £500 speakers, bookshelf/stand, white...

Hi Erlend,
To answer your first question: I would canvas the opinion of members here first (some of them used to be in the trade, and some still are), then with a short list I would go and audition them at a reputable dealer. It is important that the dealer will give you the opportunity to listen to any of the speakers you like at home.
I use a Rolex Oyster (have done for 43 years). I also have a square-faced Bulova quartz, with a black crocodile strap for 'black tie' occasions.
Rolex Oyster is solid and classic. I'm looking for a Oyster Perpetual ref 1002 atm.

Hi Erland, welcome to AOS.
It a while since I heard Dynaudio speakers. I owned a pair of Contour 1.3 Mk.II for a while, quality speakers. I've not heard the Contour S1.4 though.
As mentioned, you are at the right place for information and opinion on the Beresford range.
Enjoy the forum,
Geoff.
