I know that room quiet well as Norman and I have sat and listened to various things but quiet a bit of brass band music, Norman's first love.

Its a lovely room and his system sounds lovely.

Hi Mike.To answer your question I go back some years when vinyl was king and cd may have not been thought off. I was buying some movie theme records but mainly Brass Band records,I had a weekend listen to a Linn lp12 which was the best thing since sliced loaf. I settled on a Rega three as both did not fix all the clicks and surface noises which did get to me.It was only when my son brought home a cd player that I enjoyed listening again. I dont enter debates which sounds better, as you see I have a cd based system which gives me great pleasure in my late years. thanks for the reply to my thread.

I entirely understand why you don't enter into debates. The only reason I have a turntable is for those moments when I have that kind of itch that needs scratching.

Big valve amp (what?) into Focal speakers.

HI Jerry. You are correct,two cd sorces. The Meridian and Roxsan are used items I bought,and are really back ups,should one or other give up the ghost. You are not correct about the speakers,they are Triangle Quartets. My retirement gift to myself. Thank you for inquiring about the system,after 50 years with hi fi, I can say I really enjoy listening to my system.
