Hi John,
I would be interested to know if you are replacing it with another arm, and if so what?

Hi. Hopefully with an SME M2-9.

Cheers.

Right, that is one of the few that I would go for too. If it all comes off you must let us know the conclusions!

Will do. I think the Jelco is a true modern classic, and insanely great value for money, but even with its fluid damping, better suited to medium & low compliance carts. I'm going to be using my Shure V15VMR with an SAS stylus, which will benefit from a lighter arm. The SME also looks good with a Garrard 301, which I'm currently restoring with the help of Audio Grail. To be continued... ;)

Good luck with the sale, John. The Jelco is a fab arm at a great price, so someone will defo snap it up. Excellent choice on the replacement, too. The M2-9 is a superb tonearm and seriously underrated. It's somewhat of an 'unrecognised gem'! ;)

Thanks - yes seems to be a bit of an 'underground' hit that arm. I know some that prefer it to the series V, mounted with an appropriate cartridge etc. I'd love the 12" 'R' version, but until I win the lotto, I'm sure this'll do nicely ;) The other option was the MG-1 linear tracking arm, but once you've totted up the import fees etc. and the cost of a decent quiet air pump you're getting to the £800 point:
