Now as a rule I've got no problem in sharing my bedroom with 'others'
HOWEVER a little pesky mouse just takes the biscuit!!
How did he ever get in?. I live in a fairly modern house with double glazed window & door... How do they do it?
Trouble is I love animals and hate to kill him but I've had to put bait down for him as I'm not too keen to share with him really..

They can squeeze through the tiniest of gaps, almost eye of a needle.
If you catch him in a humane trap you need to take him some distance, I think a mile
Quite where for him to live for any amount of time I don't know !
You have to check the trap at least twice a day as they can die in there

Humane traps are a good idea in principle, but you have to release the captive a considerable distance from your house to guarantee no return. When we used humane traps my wife used to say that the mouse got back before I did :lol:
Eventually we had to switch to baited traps around our (rural) property after the little blighters gnawed through the plastic water pipes in the loft. So for us, reluctantly, it's baited traps and a cat.

Forget about humane traps, they are not that humane. I used them once, the mouse was as good as dead. Soaking wet from its own urine, after being stuck in the tiny trap for i assume several hours, the thing could hardly move, so when released it just kind of keeled over. Just buy a spring trap, its quick.
+ 1 for a cat...the mouse will vacate the premises rapidly or suffer the consequences:) ...even if you borrow one for a few weeks
If he gnaws through your SLIC's I predict imminent baseball bat ownage... ;)

I used to live in an old house and one night I was in the bathroom and my girlfriend went bananas saying there was a big spider in the room, it was actually an incredibly tiny mouse but it moved so fast it was imposible to catch. I'm talkiing Speedy f'kin Gonzales here. I only saw it once bombing across the floor. Swear to god it was just a streak, nothing could have caught it. I turned the room upside down, no sign of it. In the end I gave up and went to bed, never saw it again and nothing ever got chewed. House was very old though you could have got in between the skirting boards and the wall yourself, the gaps were that big.

There is never just one mouse!
Peanut butter works very well on a spring trap.
Personally, I use white chocolate mice. I drill a small hole through them and glue the chocolate mouse on with superglue.
One mouse does an entire winter.
I did a comparison test between dairy milk, white chocolate mice and dark chocolate.
The white and mile were the best, but the amusement factor of white chocolate mice swung it for me.

I've tried humane traps lots of times but I think they are just as cruel as the mouse is normally soaking wet and on his last legs when you get to them

Well I just have a funny feeling that there may well be more than one little pesky.... they can certainly eat a lot of bait....
Mind you I'd MUCH, MUCH rather have mice than spiders.... spiders do very strange things to me.... can't explain it.. :mental:

Spiders are cool as long as they don't get too big (they get rid of lots of nasties)........we get a lot of BIG ones around here......:eyebrows: If my daughter is in and sees one she freaks :lol:
The big 'furry' buggers are rather nice sautéed with some butter and a touch of wholegrain mustard.

YBH they are way more afraid of you...they wont bother you so just ignore them as best you can.....after all you are a huge monster to them.....a nice, but huge to them monster.......trying to dig myself out of this hole :doh:

I know a guy who is a true arachnophobic. I discovered it thus: We were playing bridge on an important occasion and he came back from the toilet shaking. Shaking as in his hands were shaking. He told me of his encounter with what appeared to be an enraged baboon. I immediately went and bought him a double scotch - trouble is: it missed his mouth and spilled. He could not play and the tournament director had to find a replacement. The net result is that our chances of winning the tournament were fu.. pollinated.

Well I have baited the little pesky or peskies with poison with no success... so I have ordered an electronic trap... apparently it 'zapps' them quite humanly..
I've ordered one that works off an AC adaptor or batteries so as soon as I receive it I will bait it with some nice peanut butter (apparently the best bait!) and we will see
As it's in the bedroom I am sure I will hear it if it catches the little pesky.... nightmare... :(

I really hate to kill animals as I'm an animal lover, however once they are trying to be my mates in the bedroom I draw a line.....bless them... I have tried all sorts of traps which they seem to just walk all over and nick the bait... I have tried poison but they just seem to lap it up... !!
So the electronic trap is on it's way.... from what I have seen it is probably the most humane way of dispensing with the little lovelies!!.. I've seen many vids of the traditional snap traps leaving the little pesky alive and fighting for it's life... I just cannot do that to them I'm afraid....far too sensitive for that method....
I've ordered the rat type even though I only have mice, so I'm hoping the mice will have an even quicker death.... sorry little mice...

Isn't a rat trap sized for rats?
Will the small mice just pass straight through?
I use the traditional snap trap. You are dealing with a pest, not a small fluffy pet.

Where did the mouse get in? If it was not though an external door, something needs to be sorted. Often, pipes are put through external walls and the gap around the pipes not filled. This is frequently where the little b****rs get in.
A great stuff to fill these sort of gaps is that aerosol spay foam.
Another way they get in is through broken air bricks or grilles.
Look, there's only one way to do this:
Purchase 1 x bottle Johnny Walker.
Borrow 1 x over and under shotgun.
Sit your self in the armchair in the lounge.
Put on your Kathy Bates face (think Stephen King's Misery).
And wait ... just wait.
Enjoy the anticipation.
Blast the little prick to smithereens.

Bung some wire wool into the gap ,then use the expanding foam.

Well the Electronic Rat Killer arrived today... even though I only need it for mice....!!
I have set it up with some juicy peanut butter, apparently they love it !!
It is still flashing red so I know that no little one has been zapped yet... if it turns into a flashing green led then I know some little one has been fried.. !!

Well i've caught absolutely nothing
I think the poison may well have got him in the end... I've not heard a thing from him since I put the trap down...
I had mice in the loft and it (they) kept sneaking into the kitchen, tried everything humane traps, ordinary traps and some really Gucci killer jobs, but nowt. The food kept going though, they liked the chocolate. Laid poison as a last resort and put oodles of it out, which also kept being eaten for days . . . WTF? Then I knew I had got him (them?) by the smell which took awhile to go, but never had any more problems since then.
They can fit through a hole the size of a pencil.

BEST inhumane trap is a cat's mouth n claws...mine was a fabulous rodent/bird catcher. she used to put the carcasses into the gaps in the crazy paving for future snacks:lol: she's been dead over a year but the smell f cat is still around coz no mice and the boys dog can still smell it :eyebrows:
