View Full Version : My first post on The Art of Sound
Good afternoon everyone
I've been lurking in the background for a little while, really enjoying reading many of the other threads.
I've got a few items of hi fi to sell and realised that I really needed to introduce myself before doing so.
If you're interested, my user name links back to my time in Veterinary Practice up in Cheshire (not far from Marco in Wrexham actually). My farmers used to call me Vetinry and therefore I've used it ever since....
...just in case you think I can't spell :-)
Anyway, I'll try and get a bit more involved now that I've joined.
My current system consists of Oppo, Bryston and Proac... and the speakers are about to be changed for PMC. Can't wait.
Steve
Welcome...which PMCs are on the way ?
Thanks Havana
I previously listened to OB1i's, which I loved, but I have decided to get a pair of Twenty 24s, based largely on them being wife friendly and matching our colour scheme in the lounge
Steve
By the way...
....I appear to be an idiot. When I posted, I noticed that I actually was showing 2 posts. When I checked, I found to my horror that I'd already introduced myself back in 2011.

Must be the early signs of a senile moment.
My apologies

Hi Steve welcome to AoS. Back in 2011 did you say what your musical tastes were?

Welcome to AOS
No worries re the earlier post.
Regards Neil
Welcome to AoS (again) Steve. :)
Always had an admiration for Bryston gear - which model are you using?
Would be great to see some pictures of your system when you get the PMC speakers.
What are your tastes in music?
Anyway welcome again to the Forum
Oops - just read your original introduction:
"Music wise, just about anything - used to be in an orchestra so classical, jazz, pop, rock, country.
Especially like guitar accoustic music."
Question answered!
Thanks for the very warm welcome
The system currently is:
Oppo 105 used (as well as Blu-ray player) to stream my entirely digital collection.
Bryton SP1.7 and 9B SST 5 channel power amp.
Proac Response 1.5 speakers - these will be going into another room
PMC Wafer 2 used as centre speaker behind Seymour Centre Stage XD motorised projector screen
Rears: Custom made using Diamond Audio (more famous for car audio) speakers - might upgrade to Wafer 1s if allowed :-)
I've been wanting to change to PMC for some time but funds haven't allowed it. But know that the Bryston / PMC combination should sing.
I'm currently only using 2 of the Bryston channels for the main front speakers, but may try Bi-amping and then getting an additional amp (Bryston / Cyrus etc) to run the rears.
Speaker cable is good old Van Damme LC-OFC 4mm. Was previous using black series tour grade.
Music taste is pretty varied. Rock / Pop / Classical etc. Not quite so into Jazz. And really love well recorded acoustic pieces, especially with guitar.
Particular favourites: Ezio, Pat Guadagno, Keb Mo
