New Audio Products and Life after Retirement.

Well after most enjoyable time working for my last company it was decided the workload was too much (coal sack lifting) The directors let me retire early, and have encouraged my passion for design to start up on my own but in a very small way ( otherwise I'll get bored).

I am happy to say I will still be helping in some minor consultation work for them and a few more designs (small, yer right). I will find that fun.

I hope they do not miss my singing but I am sure I can get them a copy of it if I ask Simon nicely. (cabbages thrown):lol:

So I will be making bespoke A Class products first and maybe easy to build, not so complex, kits for some of them.
This will include Power Amplifiers followed quickly by Pre-Amplifiers, and as I said possible kits for less complex designs.



So after I move in on Wednesday the 30th July 2014 and sort the rooms out and find a place for the coffee pot, I will start on Project 1.

So watch this space, I hope I can fill it with nice goodies from my new venture. Name to be One4 Audio when I get it all set.

P.S. It only a 5 minute drive from home and no floods to swim across like last year. And I have windows to watch the apple trees being chop down for fire wood. I have alway said a good apple is a burning apple.:lol:

Well moved into the new office on Wednesday , well all the rubble on the floor is the kit I need today tidy up and set the PC's up, hard work angina playing games, old bones squeak and I hurt in funny places.

The Clamore and Magnum were/are classic amplifiers.
I have just repaired a Magnum amp for a mate and when I tried it I was gobsmacked at what a gutsy little amp it was

But I can't sit still, no not my nature. And I love designing A Class amp and typically SECA types. The Tellurium Q Iridium SECA was so nice to listen to I had the Lab one on all day. It was just bit under powered at 18W/8R. So now working on a 30W/8R and 42W/8R and at slow steady rate without time of cost restrictions.

Also working on PCB kits for a small SECA that most of us could make with parts from Maplin etc.

OK I must have coffee now a long drive on the rotary car park yesterday has worn me out. (age shit)

I bought the Iridium a couple of months ago, and bass grip was the very first thing I noticed, then oodles of detail, then I was really taken aback by the sheer communication of the amp. Top tip; proper class A all the way

Thanks for that Marco. What I should have said is I want plans or a kit! I can't afford to buy ready made, especially new, and find making stuff more interesting anyway. Colin did mention kits. Anyway, the LDR pre needs finishing first; nearly there.

Lol... No worries. Kits are an entirely different matter, as the above would cost you about £6k! :eyebrows:

In any case, if you want serious grip from a valve amp, what you need more than anything else, is a 'stiff' power supply with BIG transformers. There's no substitute for lots of iron...!! ;)

Well the truth has come out at last, I was forced to retire and now TQ have stop paying me a retainer I am on my own.
I have started up again after the trauma that mess with TQ left me in by my so called friends.
And will be doing kits for A Class Amp SECA type and a pre-amp.

No money or income to speak of the little I have made from the PCB, SECA Kits has gone on to help pay for my keep. The divorce and the settlement there is strange as my ex wants everything including all the shares of TQ which she would sell to the others for peanuts and not the true value so all my work would mean nothing to any of them. :rolleyes:

Still up and down to the hospital every tuesday at the moment much fun, but a nice coffee shop with caring staff thank Wotan.
Back to have operation in late August which should be interesting, and another if I survive the first one in September. Maybe they are waiting for me to die, but that is Devils for you. :harp:

Still plodding on nearly completed the NEW Wonfor/Inca Tech Claymore Design without remote and the other junk the marketing Guru wanted at TQ, It about sound not flashing lights wally. It will be a lot cheaper I hope too. We will see. :lolsign::lolsign:

Just got back from a visit to the Navy College in Dartmouth and had a good time, just far to many steps and hills walking stick got tired so I had to carry it.

They sound OK better than any others I have made in the past and cheaper , but I am not ready just yet to sell them.
Concentrating on good amps first, love amps and pre's more cable leave a bad taste after sucking them for too long.
Getting a trade base on AOS , not sure how to do that but pay your money and see.

Busy week here and next week working the weekend having fun with guitar amp, just hate making things distort just can't get my head around why would anybody want a amp that distorts.
Tried crossover and soft and hard clipping it measures like s---t, but the guys like it, sounds ok with a guitar, but not hi-fi. Got one minor complaint from them, no hiss or hum like a valve amp, eh strange people.
And 1KW channel RMS is too loud for them but that what they ordered, it turns out it was 1000KW Peak, and the one I borrowed was only 150W. Not even close to 1000K RMS.
I had the same trouble with A Class T I did for a large speaker company that wanted a sub bass , they wanted 300W so that what I made , in fact they wanted only 60W RMS.
Power for me is RMS or DC the other terms a meaningless and BW is another I like flat not +3dB or -3dB flat 5Hz - 250KHz is OK .

Sorry moaning again he he now for more coffee, and pills for ticker bug, bloody thing.

I would be very interested in your speaker cable. I have blue,black and ultra black -all keepers and to my ears the best I have used.

I only use short lengths as my amps are close coupled to my speakers-lets me use superb cabling without breaking the bank.

Look forward to your developments and will happily give them a home.
