This is the REAL DEAL!!! I don't know what magic dust Stan has in his pocket, but the new Caiman II is in a whole different league from his other DACS, and I've enjoyed quite a few of his previous efforts to bring recorded music alive. Compared to the Bushmaster II (a great DAC in itself), this is so much more articulate and pure. Strings are felt with emotion, bass is textured and tuneful, voices - both male and female - are present and embodied, with every breath and dynamic subtlety present. I am lucky to have have two great sound systems, both of which had Bushmaster II's connected. The Caiman II arrived this morning and I've been listening all day in amazement. The Caiman II is no small improvement over the Bushmaster II. It took less than 10 seconds to hear the improvement and everything I've played has been enjoyed, not a little ... A LOT! If anyone is thinking this is just a small upgrade, think again. Everything is improved with this clean, dynamic, full, 3D sound. I can't imagine there are many DACS out there that can approach it's top class, regardless of price. Listening to strings, brass, voice (single, harmonies, chorus), horns, orchestral, and percussion , whether strong beats or bells and symbols ... they all start and stop with precision, delicacy and impact and tuneful excellence. If you enjoy music, buy it! I've already ordered a second Caiman II for my other system. Life is too short not to enjoy it. Enough said.
Thanks Stan!

You are not supposed to talk about mp3 in such glowing fashion when listened to via the Caiman ;).

I was supposed to send you one to try, but looking at your equipment list I don't think you have any space in your mains socket to plug it in .

Yeah, I remember!

I've been sitting by the front gate every day since then waiting for postie to arrive, but ..... :(

It sure would be interesting to compare it with my lightly modded Technics cdp. ;)
