I just picked up a Sony PS6750 turntable w/ AT cartridge of unknown model.
The turntable works as it should and looks great too.
It's DD, carbon arm, magnesium headshell, dual-material anti-vibration base, anti-static dust cover. It's the niecest TT I've had in recent years.
I may have a better cartridge, but it will still be in the mid-fi range.

Nice TT. I gave mine to my brother, and there are quite a few other PS6750 on the forum. So you are in good company.

There was a nice one on the bay that went for 350! I was gonna bid but got my times mixed up. Doh.

PS. It looks like an ATP 2XN...a fairly inexpensive cart but sounds good.

Very nice deck - iI used to have one and it made some very pleasant noises indeed.

Incidentally, I kept getting told that it has a hidden compartment on it somewhere contining alignment tool(s). I never found this on mine - has anyone else?!

I didn't realize these Sony decks were that plentiful or popular, interesting.

I checked on the top of the cartridge for a model number. It was there. The model is AT1200SA. Can't find anything on the cartridge but the stylus seems expensive. Does anyone know about this cartridge?

I wonder if my other cartridges, a Shure M95ed or original Sumiko Blue Point are better?

I can't find the manual. How much weight is each line on the markings for the anti-skating counterweight?

Having recently purchased one & taken it all apart to clean I can confirm no such compartment exists.

0.5g increments that go from left to right... So furthest left is 0.5g & furthest right is 2.5g.

Thanks Istari. To clarify, if I push the counterweight all the way to the left until it stops it would be 0g. and the 1st line towards the right would be .5g, etc.

Yes... At least, thats how the PS-8750 manual says it works. The arms aren't the same but antiskate is set the same way.

The 6750 was a sleeper in the UK until recently, when various forum members bought them and spouted forth how excellent sounding they are  Overshadowed in my memories by the rather UK-rare but exceptional 8750** we also had on dem, the 6750 correctly sited should give a stunning sonic with modern medium compliance cartridges (start looking for Ortofon 2M Red and work UPWARDS from there is my recommendation). The usual stuff about fresh exit cables might also be something worth looking at if the equivalent Technics ones are anything to go by - the latter don't seem to work so well after forty years and can suffer internal fractures depending on usage.

** The fact that an 8750 with one of the late 70's wooden Grado Signature cartridges trounced a then current LP12/Grace 707/Supex 900E (which was set up carefully to within an inch of its life I should add) was ignored by the faithful and our dem 8750 was sold on in one of our sales I recall :(

I need to address the interconnect cables for sure. I've been away from hi-fi for a few years so I'm thinking of looking for electronics w/ good built in phono stage. Maybe from the late '80s to get a somewhat modern integrated amp w/ a good onboard phono stage from when vinyl was still king. I won't need much power because the room is small, but my speakers are 4 ohm.
