Hello people,
Mark here. Interests in music are pretty wide really - although I hate musicals, and never quite get to love opera. Never been one for swapping gear really - largely due to poverty, inertia & other interests getting in the way.
Started out with a Rega 2, A&R A60, with MS Pageants which stayed with me through school, university and a few years after. I longed for a Linn/Naim system like a colleague had, which remained out of the question until I won a competition in Hi-Fi Review - £600 to spend on Hi-Fi. Just found the letter & seen that depressingly that was in November 1989! That enabled me to get an LP12, although nowhere near a Naim pre/power.
I'm more likely to be hoping for advice, than being in a position to give it. Sorry about that!
Chairs,
Mark

Hi Mark, welcome to AOS.

What are your plans for your Hi-Fi? Are you still using the LP12 and if so what do you use with it?

Tell us about your music choices too.

Enjoy the forum,
Geoff.

Hi Mark

November 1989, that was practically just yesterday. I still have a few issues of HFR from back then. I'm sure they were well happy that you bought a Sondek with the prize money ;)

Enjoy the forum :)

Welcome to AoS Mark.

Hi-Fi Review? Well that is a bit of a 'blast from the past'. If I remember correctly, it was edited by Christopher Franklin, after he abandoned "The Flat Response" magazine. It didn't last long, but Franklin was a high ranking member of the Linn/Naim 'mafia', so would explain why those products were the competition prizes.

Congratulations on winning the LP12. Did you implement any of the upgrades: Valhalla, Armageddon, Cirkus etc.?

What advice are you looking for? Ask away - we have some very knowlegable members here to help you.

Enjoy the Forum
