An odd request...

These arrived today from China and are destined for my BTE Passive. Unfortunately although they have a standard 6mm (1/4") centre fixing I hadn't banked on the shafts on the BTE being non-standard items (never assume, lesson learnt :doh:). I can't be arsed with all the hassle involved in sending them back to China so I thought I'd make a plea for help here, so here goes (fingers crossed):

Does anyone own a decent pillar drill or perhaps a lathe who wouldn't mind reaming these out to 6.34mm for me please? Churz... :o

I don't understand 1/4" = 6.35mm, so why do you want the holes in the knobs "enlarged" to 6.34mm (or is the latter a typo)?

What is the diameter of the shafts of your BTE Passive? Are the holes in the knobs only 6mm dia and not 1/4"?

Okay, then the problem is with the holes. They measure out at 6mm diameter (or 1.4" according to the seller :doh:). Regardless, they need to be drilled out to the correct diameter ;)

Hmm probably, I'd need to check online. Actually being local would not be an issue as I would have to post them out anyway as I am housebound...

I'm afraid I don't have any imperial reamers - sorry.

To be honest, you should be able to hand ream that difference.

Maybe you could find a small expanding reamer on eBay that might work. That way you could do it in stages and get it spot on. The far eastern sellers and Americans list this kind of tool. You could definitely do it by hand. I've done accurate reaming jobs just using a tap holder.

They really need drilling on a lathe not a pillar drill.

Yeah, I would have done them on a lathe - but I don't have a suitable reamer - could probably find the right size drill though Anyway, doesn't matter now.
