Quad ESL 63 - full service, all new panels, mint condition: £1295

This is as good a pair of ESL 63s as you are likely to find. They sound great will all kinds of music. As well as their legendary mid-range clarity, they have convincing bass down to 40Hz. You'd be surprised how good they sound with contemporary electronic music, aside from their prowess with classical and jazz.

- They have been fully serviced by Quad this year, at a cost of £1037 (plus a lot of driving and petrol!). This means that ALL the panels are new and should last for many years to come. The socks are new. The electronics are all checked. The speaker terminals are new. They are effectively a nearly new pair of one of the all time classics in speaker designs.

- They are in the walnut finish and the wooden sections are in beautiful condition. The sock covers are in the (very) dark brown colour.

- They are still under warranty for 6 months.

If you were to find an old pair and take them in for a service, you would face a standard wait time of around 3 months. However it could be significantly longer at the moment, because there is currently a shortage of panels. In this situation, buying a newly serviced pair will save you a massive amount of time, and a few trips to Huntingdon.

Andrew,

It would help your sale greatly, if you could paste the urls to your Photobucket photos and then replace each "[u r l]" and [/u r l]" with "" and "" repectively. That way the photos will appear in your For Sale post.

(I tried to do it for you, but the image that resulted was the generic "photo removed" notice.)

Thanks Barry, but I would now like to delete this thread if possible, or at least the contents of my first post.

These are no longer for sale.

What a great price for a pair of fully rebuilt classics. I know they're not exactly 'trouser flapping' for high volume levels, but set up on mid height stands to get them well off the floor, they could enchant the pants off you, even on rock music at not silly levels :) Just never plonk 'em on the floor and listen to them when standing, as we all did at shows, as the domestic grilles tend to fire treble downwards...
