Caiman 2. Yes, another opinion on it!

I'm only less than 10 minutes into plugging it in.........and WOW! Bloody hell Stan, how do you do it?

I could go on about air, space, inky blackness etc, at this stage I'll just say ITS AMAZING!

I've not heard an upgrade in SQ quite like this before, no matter what was swapped in and out.
Each time I've bought one of Stans new Dacs, I've been impressed, especially at its comparatively low ( compared to most other makes of Dacs) price, but this one is outstanding.

I've very quickly gone through songs by George Michael, the opera thing from Michael Bolton, and guitarist Craig Chaquico, and straight out of the box, it's sounding brilliant, so gawd knows what it will sound like if it improves after some use!

Bass is definitely better, I know I thought that before with the BM2, but this one ups the ante yet again, and as for vocals, I've never heard anything sounding so good on my system as with this!

Anyway, before I over enthuse, I'm off to listen more!

Can't beat the feeling when your system just clicks.
All of a sudden its not about the hifi but how much you like the music.

A little late night listening after my gig, a few spritzers, and now a decent single malt, and chilling to some Phil Perry doing covers of some famous soul tracks.....they never sounded so good, and despite the volume being low, the quality I'm hearing through. The Caiman mk11 is amazing!

Joking aside, the more I listen to my music through the Caiman 2, and that's a lot since I got it, I am just soooo impressed with it, hearing nuances that I hadn't heard before!

The Caiman II is particularly in its element with lossless files. I have tried lossy and lossless versions of the same audio track, and where there is actual deep down detail to be found, the lossless files showed up their existence. I noticed a particular instrument in the upper treble region of a Marvin Gaye record that I can't pick up in the mp3 copy. I assume that the way mp3 is encoded that frequency range is subject to heavy encoding losses.
