Walnut finish
Immaculate

My wife wants these out the house, so price reduction to £2600.

That really is a bargain.

My wife wants these bumped out the office. Otherwise I may have to use them as firewood.

Shame you've got to move these on. Great speakers, look really good and bargain at the price. No way you can persuade SWMBO to keep them?

Actually my choice to change them. For classical and jazz, Harbeth SHL5+ have the edge, and are better at low volume. Double tweeters give a big edge on violin and harpsichord. The radial 2 mid/bass is fab.

Fact8 are better louder and better for rock probably due to ATL.

Wife prefers Fact8. They are pretty. That was the idea.

Fact8 are IMO overpriced, but Peter T gets away with it. Big price increases since I got them. Nice guy and good luck to him. At this price, a bargain.

In an ideal world I'd have pmc bb5 se's. Need a bigger house first.

Fancied a change and the Harbeth's are sweet.

See above. You probably think I'm mad.

Nah not you, but yer good lady maybe. The Harbeths won't look so chic in that pad of yours. My wife wouldn't let a pair through the door but ok with Pb1i and now Fact 12.

Think you're probably right about over pricing but the 12s are soooo good. Now just need to get another 890 for some real valve monoblock welly.

Anyways, whoever buys these 8s will get a really good pair of speakers that look great.

Thanks
Didn't try the 12's in case I felt I couldn't live without them. Peter T, who apparently is a secret valve and vinyl nut (he uses the Soundsmith Strain Guage, I recall), says that even at 84db they are a relatively easy load and no problem for my 25w set 300BXLS amp. The 890 is a bit of a brute, is it not?

I've reached a point of sublime satisfaction from stylus to speaker plugs (continuous silver signal path, curiously) and the Harbeth just have a killer midrange and top end. Listening to Blues in Orbit now and it's the absolute business. And the speakers were £3,300, the Fact8 now £6000.

Yeah, 890 has around 70wpc and a damping factor approach solid state so it drive the Fact 12s pretty well. Listening to Wire Red Barked Tree last night, which has some well resolved, strong, deep bass lines and it did a really, really good job. I don't like blown, soft bass.

I reckon if you showed another shot of your setup now with the Harbeths in place, you might have some more buyers for the 8s.

There are a couple of people interested in the Fact8. One is coming down for a demo sometime and someone else is deciding if they want this model or another PMC one. Odd to me as PMC don't make anything else like this. The 20.26 is almost the same price, but is a budget 3-way compared to the Fact12.

Not sure why posting a pic of my system without the speakers I'm selling is going to be helpful, but here it is.

The cables are curious. The Harbeth bass seemed a bit light to me with TQ Ultra Black, which I've had a couple of years. I was looking at other cables, as the UB's are 5m and I only need 3m in this set up. As there is so much foo (putting it politely) spewn out about speaker cables, I've got an open mind on options. Tried a pair from Osborn Loudspeakers (£150) that were damned good, but not up to the detail of the UB's. Anyway, Mark at Origin Live sent out an email the other day about cabling and I invested the princely sum of £103.80 on a pair of 3m solid core cables. I had to get my wire-strippers and pliers out, as they are connected unterminated and he sends them out in cut lengths. They can be bi-wired. Anyway, so far, the best £103.80 I've ever spent on audio. If anyone mutters "top end roll-off", I'm listening to Handel Concerti Grossi on minty Archiv vinyl and it sounds pretty good to me.
