Im very upset we have managed to ONLY generate 3 pages of waffle with no meaningful discussion, this is pretty poor show.

If it is work by Pink Floyd, before the departure of Roger Waters, then it is likely to be EMI "mining" the out-takes and other material thought insufficiently good for release at the time. Have to say I'm not enthusiastic.

Sorry

I'm taking the piss, seriously!!!! I like waffle! I honestly couldn't give a $hit about pink floyd, personally I think they are running out of money and cant afford this years Ferrari's. Call me sceptical but the album smacks of adding to the pension pot for this lot. :exactly:

I made my excuses and left after Momentary Lapse. Never bothered to listen to The Division Bell until a couple of years ago and than just confirmed my suspicions that it is, frankly, dismal. Gilmore has always been a bit weak on his tod as well. But if a man needs a new helicopter then who am I to deny him?

Here is the official info:

7 July 2014

'THE ENDLESS RIVER'

"Pink Floyd can confirm that they are releasing a new album, The Endless River, in October 2014. It is an album of mainly ambient and instrumental music based on the 1993/4 Division Bell sessions which feature David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Richard Wright. The album is produced by David Gilmour with Phil Manzanera, Youth and recording engineer Andy Jackson. Work is still in progress, but more details to come at the end of the summer.

Although The Endless River is unfinished, some comments here on what the album presents music wise that differ to the official info : http://www.mtv.com/news/1861705/pink-floyd-new-album-endless-river/

'“But David and Nick have gone in and done a lot more since then. It was originally to be a completely instrumental recording, but I came in last December and sang on a few tracks. David then expanded on my backing vocals and has done a lead on at least one of them. That’s the song you see being worked on in the photo.”

She commented further that all the songs are unreleased—so they’re all brand new to our ears. Although Durga confirms that there are unreleased Richard Wright songs on the record,

Whatever has been said of Floyd after Roger left them they were never the same. The 'final cut 'was it for me especially after listening to Momentary Lapse of reason. I think the quality and dramatic tension as well as compositional brilliance evaporated after the break up.

Floyd sounded like they were trying to be Floyd after the split and for me they have never managed to achieve the exceptional material written when Roger and Dave composed and produced together.

Whilst Pink Floyd's releases with Roger were amongst the best, Floyd fans should, bordering on must, listen to Roger Waters Amused to Death with Jeff Beck on guitar, and all the dark themes and effects, closest thing to another real Pink Floyd album if not a lot better, that is if you miss them that much and have yet to hear RW ATD .
