hi everybody
used to have one of these and hardly used it after some system changes so i finally offered it to a friend who loved it. yeah, i'm that kind of friend... so now i'm looking for its brother, the 2nd vintage teck woodcase series with the BDY38 at the back. i can have it picked up anywhere in UK
if you guys feel like downsizing or have leads, thanks in advance :) phil

There's a A21 on E-Bay with 'BDY38' Output transistors.. couple hundred notes..

yeah i've seen it, thanks :) but the selling "as is" sounds to me like there's something funny about it...

True but i would advise a full rebuild for long term reliability sake.. As that one does not say series 2 on the facia it may well be a late earlier one with later 'BDY38's

of course it will need some LTC ;-) my previous unit had leaking condos and i had it serviced thoroughly
what do you mean by "later BDY38s"? are there different series of them?

The Richard Allan was the first version .. The JE Sudgen badged version of it {BD121 Outputs}, The series 2 {BDY38 Outputs}..However the Series.2 said Series.2 on the facia so why has that Series.1 got Series.2 output transistors?

hum... ok the richard allan was almost a different amp
my unit was a series 2 (with bdy38) same fascia with only "J.A sugden class A stereo amplifier"
have you ever seen series 1 or 2 written on the front panel?

Thats right it was

Series 2 has some circuit rework too...

The Series one just said 'J.E.Sugden Class A Stereo Amplifier'
The Series Two says 'J.E.Sugden Class A Stereo Amplifier Series Two'

but the bdy38 series is considered to be the best one ;-)
