Macbook

Following on from my 'laptop slow' thread, I have given up and will get it looked at by someone who knows what they are doing. Meantime, I have splashed out on a Macbook Pro and wowie !!!

Being a div with all things computer, this thing is an absolute joy to use. It does what it says on the tin (or button). Just click and it does it - quickly. I connected a camera for the first time and 30 seconds later, I had downloaded some pics. I have never been able to open Word documents on my PCs but this just does it and connected to my printer within a minute.

All I need do now is to master opening more than one pane at a time to post pics. I think I know how and will have a go tomorrow, when I have more time.

To me, this is a minor miracle or look at it another way - Windows based machines are hard work.

Good to know you are sorted David, Mac's are very easy to use and look nice too. If you don't ever want to tinker with a computer, they do as you point out, 'what it says on the tin'.

Not really a fair fight though, an aging 5 year old Dell with Vista, against a shiny new Macbook Pro, especially if you don't know how to fix Vista . . . ;)

Yup, switched to a MBA about 5 years ago and have not looked back since...great usability IMHO and you can still get geeky with command line stuff if you wish. Install Libre Office or OpenOffice for spreadsheet/word and presentation stuff and use the inbuilt mail client and you're all set ;)
