Real shame it's the model with the arm Cue control.. However ive seen stripped down '125's on Auction you could swap over the control plate later on.

It's a NOS GM 0.17 conical Barry and it's running at a touch over 3g.

Being as I'm an ex-TD125 owner with genuine affection for mine (finance as usual caused me to sell it but I know where it is ;)), may I very respectfully suggest that no matter how good, a 3g tracker might just upset the dynamic wow situation, as to keep noise down (it does beautifully), the belt is somewhat flexible on Thorens decks in general and the inertia of the platter only just able as the playing weight goes over 2g.

I'm just being cautious and there may not be an issue at all. With regular cartridges, I find the deck silent and equally silent on surface 'roar' too - almost spooky after the direct driven Dual 701 I have, let alone the much 'noisier' Garrard idler decks in the collection. I wonder if the lack of artificial 'warmth' may be the reason why one or two people dislike the sonics of this machine?

By the way, one of the springs on mine was way off kilter and this affected the 'bounce' as I've seen on many 125's (the TD160's should and usually have a perfect vertical bounce). Apparently, Linn springs are a perfect replacement as the lower mass platters are balanced by the heavy sprung top plate.

By the way, lovely plinth and Andr'e is spot on with suggestion for the standard front trim :)

The deck is still dead quiet Dave with no detectable speed variation; the strobe stays absolutely still at all speeds and no pitch variation I can hear.

The deck bounces true, so I believe the springs are good. In fact, it seems to be ridiculously well set up and once set up, stays set up.

Love it.
