140Kg...torque from nothing and never needs a new front tyre as it doesn't often make contact with terra firma. Madder than a box full of drunk frogs; as grunty as a pig fed on beans. Huge fun.

:lol: I shouldn't look at the KTM then Bev as it comes with a step-ladder to get on the thing ;) You can get them lowered though.

if you like the whole super motard thing, then a better bet for the vertically challenged would be the Suzi DRZ400:

These make a heck of a lot of sense for road bikes. Super handling, cheap running costs, and very manoeuvrable. Your licence is likely to remain intact compared with a sportsbike too.

Never worth selling a good bike you're fond of Anthony and who knows, maybe this is the summer you'll get back on it? Kick starting the KTM is interesting, especially with a seat height over 900mm. It can take 20 kicks or two kicks so on a hot day in full clobber it's no fun! "only" about 55BHP but in something weighing as much as a hanky, that's plenty.

Most years i manage to take it to the MOT station and back, and put a few miles on it, but the last year i havent had the time, or the inclination,i have been riding bikes since i was 9 years old, started on motor x then road bikes, didnt have a full car licence until i was 28! Worst bike we had to kick start was a Yamaha XT600, i remember being in the middle of nowhere and the kickstart snapped, the only way you could bump start it was in top gear down a good hill, even then, the back wheel would lock most of the way down!

Same here Anthony. Had bikes for the last 30 years. Went from a 250 Kwacker which I did my test on when living on Jersey to a GPZ500, then BMWR100RT, since when the list has included another BMW, Ducatis (classic and modern) Guzzis, Big Yams (all have had reliability issues so wont ever buy a Yam again), a CBX and a Fireblade, Hog (mid life crisis which didn't last long!), Triumph, Aprilia RSV Mille (huge fun), and now an RSVR Edwards Rep (best motorcycle I've owned in over 30 years) and the KTM. Couldn't imagine not riding tbh.

Sounds like we have more than HI FI in common!
I still love riding them when i feel up to it, but quite bad lower back damage now, half motorcycle accidents related, and half employment miss-haps. Anyway, enjoy your new toy, and try and put some milage on that front tyre, i know only too well how difficult that can be, way too much fun! ;) :)

Go for it Geoff. It's never too late. I had an SV1000s as a hire bike for a week. Great all round bike if a little slow steering. The smaller sibling SV650 is a better handling bike but obviously lacks the grunt. The SV1000 has amazing acceleration and I remember at the time almost rivalled the R1 for straight line to 60mph anyway.

I have lower back damage too from two accidents, the worst one was on a mountain bike which nearly crippled me, the next on the Aprilia being side swiped on a roundabout by dozy car driver not looking where they were going. The hip plays up too despite surgery a few years back, so I have to cycle lots to keep the back, hip and other injuries from seizing the creaky bones up! Wont stop me riding to another TT on the Aprilia or enjoying both motorbikes for years to come. That's what painkillers are for...

I guess I could get another Moto Guzzi as I could touch the floor ok with that and you ride them like you stole them, Guzzi's have got great character too, but most of all I miss the thrill and the joy of arriving in one piece !!!!:eek:
