I'm in the process of trying out a pair, and mighty fine they are as well. I'd just like to ask if any other members have tried them and would like to hear about their experiences. It's the first pair pair of cans I've tried.

I have a pair, and have had a hell of a problem trying to find a headphone amp to drive them properly. But you are free to pass by and try them out with the headamp I am working on. You'll at least know what to expect from the HD800.

Currently trying out the Lehmann Linear headphone amp. Any thoughts on if this is a good match? Certainly hearing lots of new info of old vinyl. Also can the Bushmaster II be optimised for usage with 800's?

Haven't heard the HD800 with the Lehmann.
It is possible to optimise the HD800 for the BM2, but you just reminded me to go and check something important right now!

The Lehman Linear was the headphone amplifier Sennheiser used to demonstrate the HD800 before the company launched its own HDVD 800 amplifier.

It's a good match. The Grace Design m903 was markedly better than the Linear when I compared the two through the HD800. But the m903 was four times the price of the Linear at the time, I believe.

The Lehmann Black Cube Linear works very well.

I evaluated a few different headamps when I was considering changing my HD650 to an 800 and the best combo I found at that time was the Lehmann. There is also the Matrix M-Stage which is a clone of the Black Cube and sounds the same, although the build quality is not a par on the former, especially the volume control - I have an M-Stage at the moment, but don't use it very often now, hardly ever in fact.

Very nice headphone the HD800 especially if you like the Sennheiser sound - I really don't like Grado at all and sold the pair I had (325i) shortly after buying them.
