Hello From Montpellier, south of france

Hi all,

Few words while I am listening to Gould's Bach Toccatas vol2.
I am in my 50's and always loved playing and listening to music as far as I remember.
I spend most of my free time going to concert (classical or jazz) and when I am home and able to sit and listen, most of the time a LP is spinning.
I love also to listen to live concerts broadcasted on the FM.
I probably have around 5 000 LP's that I cherish.

It took me many, many years to reach the actual quality of my system.
Some good moves but many mistakes too.

I will try to contribute as much as possible to this great forum.
Please forgive my english which is not my mother tongue.

Hello Jean-Luc, welcome to AOS.

I'm sure you'll enjoy yourself here. We have a few other members in France and some are regular contributors.

Tell us about the system you listen to. 5000 albums is quite a lot, it would take a couple of years at least to play them :)

Thanks to all for this warm welcome.

I will try to post some pictures this week end if i figure how to proceed! (I am not a Photobucket expert...)
As a Linn fan, I consider that the source should come first. So I upgraded all along these years, my old LP12 to bring it to the actual ultimate version (Ekos SE arm, Keel, Urika, Radikal,) Knowing the perfect fit with Lyra cartridges, I broke (once again) my money box and offered "her" an Etna which is an amazing cart. No stress and beauty all over the range.
THe pre is made by two frenchmen running the "Atelier de l'Audiophile" in Montpellier. This version is like a concept ca rand is built with the consideration that "cost is no object". It is a hybrid valve and SS preamplifier which during a test at home with some of the great preamps (by mercy I will not give brands) knocked them out.
It runs in the category of (IMHO) the best Audionotes, Kondos and Nagras.
I assume that everybody ( member of a forum called Art of Sound) knows the VPA's so I will just say tha tthey are the best amps I ever heard.
It took me many years to succeed to own some but probably everything happens.
End of the chain and some say the most important link, the loudspeakers.
For those who would lke to know more about the OBX-RW and the philosophy of Mr Kevin Scott (If I would be HM, Kevin Scott would be Sir Kevin Scott:))
