Right.....I use a play out system when I'm doing my DJ bit, and at some venues I just connect to the in house system with a pair of normal ic's, but, sometimes the left - right stereo separation on some tracks is so far OTT that the vocals are sometimes from the rh speaker, and the rest of it comes out the lh speaker, leaving a wacking great hole!

Unfortunately there's no mono switch on either my kit, or the venues amp, so, after that long story, I need a ' mono'd out set of ic's, or someone local to Nottingham that can bodge me up one of my own.

Looking at a 3 metre pair.

Am I right in thinking attaching a piece of cable across the feed of each cable will have the desired effect?

Hi Craig,
Yes and no. It will certainly give you an L+R signal, but a better way to do it is to combine L and R with two series resistors.
If there is any antiphase L on R or vice versa, as in soundstage manipulation in the mix, then frequencies can cancel out without using series resistors.

Alan, would that be necessary in a, let's call it, 'disco environment'?
