I have just acquired one of these amps

It's had the power lead cut off 3" short of the amp body

The shop that sold it said as its not pat tested they have to cut off the leads and sell as spares and repair not working

Anyone own one now or in the past ? could give any advice on the sound quality of this amp , see if its worth spending money on .

Stick a plug on it and see if it works! :)

A valve/ss hybrid.
Should be interesting!

A range of opinions to be seen here http://www.audioreview.com/cat/amplification/amplifiers/luxman/model/prd_115903_1583crx.aspx

Not sure if the valves actually did anything from memory as they were there mainly for visuals. I think the amp was a pleasant enough thing in its day from memory.

A look inside

And as you can see its powered up and much to my surprise is working fine on the MM phono stage it also has MC

Valves working fine and sounding good :D

All I need to do is fit a new power cord and a quick clean up

Jobs a goodun :)

£2400 in 1984 that is five grand in today's worthless money. Not exactly budget kit. What a hell of a bargain. I like the volume control knob too, they had some great knobs in the Eighties. :)

I can see Tubbs getting into Luxman gear. Crockett was definitely a Bose man ;)
