I bought this from Henry over on the Wam a few months back to partner a Lyngdorf SDA2175 power amp - unlike your average valve preamp this has sufficiently low output impedance to work well with solid state kit. And it proved a fantastic match. Its a truly super preamp, the opposite of a lot of syrupy valve preamps, with superb control, fantastic bass and just a touch of fairy dust where it's needed. 22db gain so plenty of welly, but with a 100-step remote-controlled attenuator (with balance control) that means it works well even with high-ish gain power amps.
I've just had back my original DIY Hifi Supply Tram2 DHT preamp, now running 45s as preamp valve, which has cost me more in modification/repair costs alone than I'm asking for the C-J ... so need some funds back. Though I have to say which is best is really a matter of taste rather than objective superiority.
