Pretty silly and pointless really. It's not going to be enjoyable to eat, so why bother. I can't stand overly hot/spiced/seasoned food myself and don't go near Indian food 'cos it has that horrible aromatic pong!

Utterly stupid, both the chef and the idiots who eat it.

However, Geoff, you are missing out on one of the great culinary delights. Indian food doesn't have to be hot but the flavours of some are to er..... die for.

It does sound a bit extreme yet at the same time weirdly luring! That's the thing with Capsaicin; Chillie heads often report endorphin release with some spiced foods, and it has an almost addictive attraction. I find it a fascinating substance: used in extracted form in the medical field as an anti-inflammatory and analgesia for localised application. I grow a lot of various chillies but drew the line several years ago with Scotch Bonnet chillies which for my tastes was where food heat became unpleasant. I guess working in the Far east for a spell kicked it off, as in Thailand and Singapore where I worked, their idea of a spicy meal and our idea of it in the UK are very different! Rather than a few chillies in say a curry, they'd use a large handful, seeds and all.
