WTD: 2 x 5751 / ECC82 Valves

As per the title I'm looking for both a pair of 5751 and ECC82 Valves. I have a SRPP for my CDP which I purchased second hand fitted with Tungsram ECC82's (original schematic specs 5963), I swapped these for Mullard ECC83's which sound so much nicer but I now have ridiculous gain. I've been advised to try 5751 (as I'm sure if you're reading this you'll already know they have lower gain) so I'm looking for something cheap to establish whether these will have a more acceptable gain. Also in the market for some nice sounding but cheap ECC82, what ya got?

A few thoughts on the 5751's for you ...

If you just want to try something cheap to test the gain you could get Sovtek or EH for very little money. If you want to go for something better there's a couple to look out for - I have used JAN GE 5751 in my phono stage and they are very good at £25 a go -

I did however find 1950's GE Black Plates slightly more dynamic and you can also pick up a pair of these on ebay for around the 50 quid mark.

Thanks for the link, I was thinking of eventually upgrading to GE's as they seem to be held in high regard by many members on here but I could only find them from Watford Valves @ £35.00 + VAT each and I didn't want to spend that sort of money on a gamble that might not pay off, but at £50 a pair it may not be worth messing around with anything else (unless anyone else has some second hand 5751's they want to sell really cheap :eyebrows:). Thanks for the heads up on the Black Plate's I'd not heard of these.
