Hi Al,
If you are using Windoze I strongly recommend you install AdvancedSystemCare.
It has saved the air turning blue here, well not quite 100%.
Cheers,
Alan

Welcome back Al.
I suggest you learn how to activate time machine.
Also repeat this phrase 100 times - JUST BECAUSE IT'S A MAC IT DOES NOT PROTECT ME FROM COMPUTER VIRUSES!
(PS - I'm not gloating over your recent woes - I'm just pointing this out for other Mac users who haven't been following your recent issues)

Ha Ha. A coincidence! That's exactly what I've been doing all evening too, I was bunging Windows 7 back on. Just done a couple of hours of Windows and MSE updates/installation. Still got a few bits to reinstall, but nearly there. No probs so far. Quite enjoyed it actually. It wasn't really necessary, but I had a few errors here and there, so I thought why not.

Oh good grief. You have a Mac and didn't do the basic, easy, straightforward built in back up system that would allow you to restore your system in no time at all????
Shame on you.
Anyway, as its probably all my fault for suggesting to get Cache cleaner, I don't suppose you are talking to me:( I had no idea that CNET were such tossers.
If you need any help with time machine, you could risk asking me or I'm sure others will provide further guidance. We have two machines in regular use and Time Machine gets run every day sharing a partitioned drive. It really does provide some peace of mind.
Thanks Marco

Seriously now Al,
Get yourself a good external hard disk and use Time machine every day or get two disks and leave one permanently connected and back that up once a week.
If you had done this before, restoration of your system and all your files would have been one click away - absolutely straightforward, everything the Mac is - or should be at least.
