If anyone has a local record cleaning outlet that they would like to post up here that others may be unaware of!
Good quality record cleaning machines can be very expensive that a lot of people could never afford to buy hence a local record cleaning service would be perfect for many..
So post up your locals chaps & chapesses..
Sheffield residents can use 'Rare & Racey' on 164/166 Devonshire street.. Great old books shop, 2nd hand record/CD's & a superb cleaning machine {Loricraft Audio 'PRCII'} Dead right price at a £1 per record..

I'm in the South Gloucestershire/ Cirencester area. If anyone needs to get a few records cleaned I use a twin Knosti Disco system - cleaning fluid in one and distilled water in other. Happy to offer my services and I'm sure we could come to an agreement for renumeration.
Great idea, Andre. Folks should get behind this - consider it stuck! :)

We clean records at record fairs and the Audiojumble, or if people want to send them to us we can do them by post. The discs are cleaned on a Loricraft PRC using our own "The Right One" cleaning solution, as recently recommended by a certain Marco of this parish :) . We charge £2.50 per LP or 12" plus return postage and we put the disc in a new quality poly lined inner bag. PM if interested
Cheers

I've never had so much fun cleaning LPs. I bought the review sample.—Michael Fremer
"This is a well-nigh miraculous product that produces results equivalent to a cartridge upgrade... if you have a high-end system and oodles of LPs, this record cleaning machine is not an option. It is a must. Hats off to Herr Glass!"
The Audio Desk Systeme Vinyl Cleaning Machine is more than a record cleaner—it’s a window into greater musicality from your LP collection and an essential component for any serious LP listener.
-Robert Harley, the absolute sound, Issue 239, Jan 2014
"This completely automated record cleaner is simply the state of the art. The ultrasonic cleaning technique loosens dirt embedded in groove modulations that are too small for even the finest bristles. The sonic results go far beyond quieter surfaces. The Audio Desk renders a dramatic increase in resolution, soundstaging, timbral fidelity and immediacy. Once you hear what the Audio Desk does, you won't want to live without it. The icing on the cake is the fully automatic operation: just pop in an LP and watch as the cleaning tank fills, cleans both LP sides simultaneously, and then drains the tank and dries the record."

Very similar to the Loricraft and also based on the Percy Wilson design but more automated.
I'm in the North West Ormskirk/ Southport area. If anyone needs to get a few records cleaned I use a loricraft cleaner
No charge just a donation towards the Cleaning fluid :)
Be warned record cleaning is like watching planks warp!
Steve, a very kind offer.
I have a Moth, (as you know), but your offer sounds much more interesting than using the Moth.
how much cleaning fluid would it take for about 700 Lps. When can I bring them to you?
No great hurry to get them back. Would 1 week be enough time, if you to crack on.

:lol::lol::lol:
1 week for 700 records is still quicker than doing them the PVA method .... reckon Pangea breaking up would have taken less time

Rat Records in London have a Loricraft PRC Mark 4 machine for cleaning records. Supposed to be very good.
http://www.ratrecordsuk.net/clean-your-records.html
I'm willing to clean records for one pound per record. I can offer it this cheaply because I use PVA, which is very quick and very thorough. Drying time means that you would need to leave the records with me, possibly for a few days if it's a lot of records. I'm in Chelsea, London.
Here's a video of the method I use:
http://cyberphotographer.com/technics/thepvastory.mov
I'm quite happy to instruct visitors in the method so that they can clean their own records at cost, at home, with no additional equipment.
I have now cleaned thousands of records this way, with nothing other than superb results every time.

Is there not any glue residue left behind in the grooves?
Is there not any glue residue left behind in the grooves?
None in my experience, ever. The reason why I demonstrated trying to break the glue in my video was to show how tenaciously the glue holds together. It is very strong, by design. It is glue, after all. It clings to any bits of stuff for dear life. That's why it helps to zerostat afterwards: it doesn't even leave all the surface electrons behind.
I took some photos through the removed film at quite high resolution to check the theory, and it was corroborated:

A 100 a day on a Moth would drive you crazy you need headphones or ear protectors too !
A Knosti and 5 litres of Pauls' superb fluid would cost under £100, for cleaning records its a no brainer.
You don't need the extra machine with distilled water in either as the fluid leaves no residue.

I have a Loricraft PRC-4 that I will use to clean records for anyone willing to come to my house. Anyone in the Lower Mainland is welcome. $2.50 per record. I use Art D'Son on all of my records.
