Just bought a Micro Basic Preamp to partner up with my Radford Power amp whilst the Radford pre is being repaired. Well I must say that I'm impressed. Who know's I might even go the whole hog and buy some more stuff!

Bloody good aren't they.

I can imagine the croft going very well with the Raddy... :)

Sounds good through the Radfords! My paradise phonostage isnt liking the Croft at this minute in time, it's humming like a bugger, but I've had a long day and probably not plugged stuff in correctly.

Why not give the Croft phono stage a go if you can... it's really very good indeed.

Thats going to be difficult as I dont own a MM, I was thinking of doing the usual Shure V15 mk 3 with JICO SAS, or Ortofon 2M black.

If you're going down the separate phono route you might as well get a Micro Basic with phono stage.

Or you could simply get the Croft Micro 25 Basic with phono stage. Trust Marco!

Paradise now working, so I'm not that bothered for the croft phonostage. I've heard the RIAA is Glen's own version, I prefer Paradise anyway as I know just what this excellent phonostage can do. ;)

For next Croft, I'd try a proper 25, which can be further upgraded later... A stock 25 sounds more refined to me without removing what it is you like about the Basic.

Go for it.. the V15 + JICO is a great combo.

I'd probably go down the route of 25R monoblocks if I was going to try anything.

Yep, not original but works well with the 3012 and 301 combo. :eyebrows:

The Croft phono stages are superb, even on the Micro Basic, and work well with step up transformers for MC carts. I'm currently trying out an RIAA R with a low output MC, using a Puresound T10 as a SUT. It works really well. I don't know much about SUTs as yet, but I imagine that one with 7 or 8x amplification rather than 10 would work nicely too.
