Speaker Driver Gaskets

Can anyone let me know best place to get some 8 inch Speaker Driver gaskets, or can I make them myself?

My beloved Spendor SP2 drive units. I had the main drive units out the other day and the gaskets were shot !

Right i think the 'SP2' were original a thin foam gasket?.. Being a round unit would make it easier to make one. I would however first try Falcon Acoustics or Wilmslow Audio.. or even Spendor themselves..

yeas they were a thin foam gasket which has deteriorated badly - falling to bits. Will try Wilmslow Audio -thanks.

Just use draft excluder tape or similar. All you need is something to take out any slight deviations from a perfectly flat contact surface or the chassis for an air tight seal. Even bluetack works well (a small thin bead is all that is required.

If you want to cut your own gaskets use black craft foam sheet. Available from art & craft shops and on eBay.

I never use gaskets for mounting drivers, but if for some reason your driver rebates aren't nice and smooth, you may need to add a gasket between the frame and cabinet. Cut suitable circles from thin polyurethane foam, the kind of thing we get every time we buy a new electronic gadget, glassware, or whatever we buy these days, even fruit from China, I've seen.

It seems to work OK. And unlike draught excluder, it's easy to remove.
