View Full Version : Soundlab A-3 Full-Range Electrostatics.
It pains me greatly to have to do this, but....
I'm offering here my lovely A3 electrostatics, I don't really know where to begin but perhaps this lengthy review is as good a place as any: http://www.stereophile.com/floorloudspeakers/893/
I've owned these for a while now and they're simply stunning loudspeakers, by far the best I've ever owned and some of the best I've ever heard. Period!
Here's a few pic's:

They're in excellent working order since having the panels re-tensioned a while ago (it's a heat treating process), and fine cosmetic condition. The only downside being a small hole in the black cloth on the rear of one speaker. This has never bothered me as you can't see it unless you get behind them and go looking for it. See pic:

These are truly great loudspeakers and deserve more room than I can give them but be warned, they are power hungry... don't go thinking they'll work well with small valve amp's!
I do have the shipping crates but I think trusting them to a courier would be foolish, collection (in a van!) is going to be the only option IMHO. Questions/demo/etc. welcome.
Asking £2750 ono.
Cheers,
Mike.
P.S. The current A-3PX now costs over $20K

I love stats , these look massive I bet they sound amazing :)
When not being used for music they also operate as screens for models to get dressed and undressed.

Bargain. If I lived on my own I'd have them in a heartbeat, but..........
Good luck with the sale,

I live on my own but..........

A Friday bump for these truely outstanding speakers.
I have had a listen to these most musical speakers on a lot of occasions and they never fail to amaze and put a smile on my face.
very surprised that someone is not all over these by now.
Blimey, Sound Labs have a terrific reputation and are super rare in the UK - are you really sure you want to sell these?

I'm absolutely certain that I don't "want" to sell them... Unfortunately I'm in a bad place right now and it's a "needs must" situation! :(
I'm very, very sorry to hear that :(. If I wanted electrostatics I would be all over them - a real bargain price too! Couldn't you sell the Krell (sorry, perhaps you are) - much easier to replace?
That'll be on it's way too, but I need it right now to demo the Soundlabs.

You know what, Mark, you're absolutely right. I've got them playing right now and I'm being a complete dick!
These are going to be mothballed for a "less rainy day" and I'm just going to have to find another way to weather the storm, I'd regret selling them within seconds and I'll probably never find another pair as nice as these. :D
So f*ck it... Sorry folks: NO LONGER FOR SALE! :finger:

I don't know your situation and it's absolutely none of my business - but don't sell these speakers unless you absolutely, absolutely have to. Many don't know them but I do and I know you do. A serious buyer wouldn't need a 'sound quality demo'. Everything else in your system is vastly easier to replace.
Scroll up a bit, Mark! ;)
Krell up for sale tomorrow, but right now... Got music, got Scotch! :guitar:
Due to circumstances beyond my control, blah blah blah....
Back up for sale!
Why does getting divorced have to be such a pain in the arse?

Don't know, I haven't tried it. I'd like to though (the other half drives me up the wall). :eyebrows:
Buy these then, that should get you started!
Reduced to £2500 ono.
Anyone?

Looks sideways at Yamaha NS1000Ms with Raal tweeters and realizes this might not be out of my price range.
Here you go, a couple more pic's....

Go on, Simon, you know it makes sense! :D
Would also be interested in taking stuff as P/X... WHY? :)
I heard these at Mike's place. I love stats, have Logans myself and these Soundlabs are fabulous. Unfortunately they won't fit into my room else would have picked them up without a moment's hesitation. They work like a jukebox, you can keep playing any music through them all day long, the imaging as well as bass is excellent. TBH I don't think Mike's room allows one to see them above 40% of their capability, and mine won't much either.
Final bump before getting stored away... £2250 ovno. Collection a must!
Cheers...

Please Mike
STOP IT , you are making me go weak at the knees :)
Go on, Al... You know you want to! :D
Rescue them from going back in the crates and not seeing the light of day for years!!!
Oh, I forgot to mention I'd be interested in other speakers in p/x... Particularly something a bit more "valve friendly".
Anyone remember these?... Well they're still available if anyone's interested?
Open to reasonable offers for a quick sale! :)

Fantastic bargain - you'd sell 'em for more than that on eBay, I'd bet, Mike. ;)
Maybe so, Jerry, but I don't like selling there these days.... Too greedy with the fees imho!

Hmm - maybe you could get £3k - £300 for eBay, £2700 cash for you. :)
I think 10% fees are quite fair considering the potential market they open up for you.

Now on ebay... :(
Good luck!
if the bloody MBLs hadn't stopped my speaker-swapping the A3s would have been mine a long time ago!
I have to confess I am baffled by the difficulty in selling these fabulous speakers. So much speaker fro the money.
I agree Jerry. Where are the REAL audiophiles around here? Pretty scant if you ask me:D

Do yourself a favour, take them off eBay and relist them 3rd week of February. This is absolutely the worst time to sell any big ticket item, people are paying off Xmas this month.
Well, I'm always open to offers... :)
