Hi All,

I'm thinking of setting up a separate system just for the vinyl side of things. I'm still going to keep my AV setup and i was thinking of using a type of switch so i can juggle between them both.

Obviously i would like the best my poxy funds will allow £400, I understand this is not a lot but I'm afraid I'm all spent out at the moment.
I'd like an nice stereo amp capable of producing a nice warm sound from the vinyl and if needs be a nice phono stage. I'd also be needing an amp switch as mentioned above.

My speakers are B&W 683 if this helps. Any advice on amps would also be greatly appreciated.

Couple of suggestions to look out for
1 Quad 34, 306 in budget cracking combo and has good built in phono, timeless good looks
2 A&R A60 again lovely sweet amp and has good phono
3 Rogers A100 sweet as a nut and more welly than the A&R A60

I own Items 1 & 3 but you cant have them :D

I've got a very nice Creek 4040 S3 for sale at the moment which has lovely phono stage in it. Would like £100 as a forum price. They're great little amps if you haven't heard one.

I've also got an Arcam Alpha 2 which you could have for £50.

Would prefer collection (Bicester) if possible but could post at cost.

Why not just buy a phono stage and plug it into the A/V amp? £400 buys a lot of phono stage especially if pre-owned or DIY. Plus B&W 683 need a bit of welly from the amplifier which you are not going to get with a low powered classic like AR or Creek.

Good advice, go for one of the Firebottle stages, very good indeed IMHO.

Yep, Firebottle phono would do the job very well indeed and still leave you change out of £400.

Direct from Alan, Nathan.

Just look/search for Firebottle's posts and then click on the PM in his profile, job done.

Think they are £280 with a switch for both MM/MC.

Great phono stages I have the MM only version but seriously thinking about sending my amp to Alan for the MC upgrade which is about £80 plus postage one way to Kent I believe.
