Loricraft record cleaners ( which model)

does anyone use one there are 3 models prc 3,prc4 & prc6

which model is the sweet one in the range

Hi Steve,

As per forum rules I have to tell you I used to work with Loricraft many moons ago,and recently I have traded with them over record cleaners. It's on record that I make and sell what many, (including Marco of this parish), I'm pleased to say are on record as saying it's the best cleaning fluid on the market. So I hope that's got any idea of me being a shil out of the way. I have had the PRC 2 and the smaller PRC3 the current 2 has been the most important part of my system, it has been in pretty constant use for over 11 years and has never let be down.

In that time I have given it a full check over every year and I have replaced the lid this year along withe hoses and two years ago I changed the mat for the current, easier to clean neoprene one. Of course the thread needs replacing regularly as it's a consumable. I had a VPI 16.5 and hated it because of the noise and it did not, in my opinion clean as well as the Loricrafts. If I tell you that mine looks after, my collection and the records I buy and sell, plusI have offered record cleaning services by post, at record fairs and the audio jumble. You can see it is really robust. In my opinion the more powerful units are great for record stores and libraries and I will at some point step up to one.

I have used a prc4 for several years, although I can't claim to use it very much as I find cleaning records so tedious that it shortens my life. I only use the Loricraft when necessary, and then it does a good job. It's well built, has been reliable and does produce a nicer, clean, record.
However, having also used the Nitty Gritty, VPI 16.5 and Moth, I tend to think they all clean to a similar standard. The Loricraft is quieter and a rather pleasant bit of kit to own. I don't think it matters much which Loricraft model, they all use the same method.
If you clean a lot of records, hundreds of them every year, then a Loricraft would be a decent choice. even better these days might be one of the new ultra-sound machines, which seem a lot less bother to use.
If you are an occasional user, i'd tend to suggest a Moth or Okki Noki, because they do a similar job rather more cheaply.

On Paul's advice I got the PR4, the one that has reverse mode, and am delighted with it.

I also use Paul's fluid.

The combination is perfect for new records and turning old sow's ears into silk purses. Some spectacularly dirty records have come out like new. It is reasonably quiet, might clean a batch while watching the TV rather than listening to music.

I've had a PRC4 for a few years now and I would hate to be without it. It might be worth seeing if Loricraft have an ex-demo one for sale. I picked mine up from one of the Hi-Fi shows at Whittlebury Hall.

Very nice and very noisy.

I find the static test is how easily a record slips in and out of a polylined sleeve.
Some new records almost have to be torn out of the sleeve.
My experience of the PR4 is that they fall in and out of sleeves no issue at all, so they seem physically to be largely or totally static free and they certainly don't play as if covered in static/dust.

I've cleaned completely trashed records with the PR4 - one had been put in a box set without a sleeve next to a sheet of sponge filler and left for 20 years, the sponge had disintegrated and stuck to the whole of one side of the record. Took a bit of scrubbing and three cleans, but now perfect.

Use new sleeves whenever possible after cleaning.

& agree New Anti static inners after cleaning
