ello.
Getting back into vinyl again after 20 odd years, feel Ive got the digital sorted so time for something different.

Picked up a stonking Gyro SE with full Orbe platter upgrades, Technoarm, HR power supply etc and have a question for anyone who has owned a Gyro and upgraded it to "Gorbe" spec?
The Gyro has a single perspex "spider" which everything sits on, the Orbe has a double spider arrangement.

I've seen photos online of "orbed" Gyrodecks with the double spider arrangement, but not saw it offered as an upgrade kit by Mitchell?
It would add extra height to the deck, which I like, but would the motor housing need to be raised up given that it has the full height Orbe platter?

I reckon not, wondered if anyone has gone down this route and can comment.
thanks. :)

Asking about...
Seems it'll not be a proble, just that the belt will sit lower on the platter.

Will contact my Glasgow Michell dealer and ask about ordering the double spider kit, compatibility with the Gyro etc.

Do you not need to change the suspension towers from Gyro to Orbe?

Seems the Orbe double spider is do-able on the Gyrodeck.
Cool.

Will contact Michell.

Update:
Phoned Michell, extremely helpful.

No problem with Orbe double spider on Gyro SE, costs £103.30 + £9 delivery.
Sorted.

I think so, will check with Michell.
Think they need to be shorter to be below level of platter?

Michell seem to be very good and relatively non-foo in their dealings with customers. Good luck with all the upgrades - I've not been a particular fan of the stock Gyro, but the Orbe does sound very effective indeed :)

I phones Michell last week for a set of springs & armboard for my 'Syncro' deck.. top notch service as always.

Guy over on Wigwam posted a pic of his "Gorbe" deck with same upgrades as mine using the existing Gyrodec spring covers.

No problem, fits just fine.
Sorted. :)
