Dac and streaming advice

I am looking to set up a streaming system for the house I have the choice of using a macbook pro or a dell insprion 1750 .
what I would like to do is control the computer using a samsung tablet for play lists .
can this be done? and any recomendations for a usb dac thats not stupid money and what is the best software to use on either the mac or pc .

I don't know about Macs but certainly you can control a Windows machine with an Android tablet using Microsoft Remote Desktop https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.microsoft.rdc.android I've done a similar thing using a Chromebook to control a Widows laptop to access music, but TBH I find things much simpler since switching from using a laptop to using Sonos controlled by a Kindle Fire ( you can do the same thing with an Android tablet). Depends if you want higher resolution than CD quality.
As regards DACs the Beresford Caiman is very good, there's a current thread about the MkII version http://theartofsound.net/forum/showthread.php?32624-The-Caiman-MKII-taking-a-bigger-and-better-bite you could probably pick up a MkI shortly on the Forum from somebody upgrading to MKII.

Another question if I get a Beresford Caiman can I also connect my Creek evo cd player to it ?

cheapest would be 1 airport express - optical out - Beresford or other DAC with Toslink - amp

control it with your iphone or ipad with the remote app

The Caiman has 2 coaxial inputs, an optical input as well as a USB input, so no problems.

The usb performance on the original Caiman is mediocre, you would be better off getting a usb/coax convertor or running optical from the digi out of your MBP into it.

If things go to plan I shall have a 192kHz external USB converter towards the end of June. Just doing some last minute performance testing on it and waiting for CE approval.
