This is a classic album and commands high prices here in Australia.
For a really good copy expect to pay in excess of $300.
Glad to own a few copies of this.

Did you sell all your vinyl ?
Spiral vertigo is a great label to collect such a great investment.
I am lucky and purchased many rare spirals when cds first came out.
No one seemed to want there vinyl then.
Purchased many a large collection cheaply.

Well they may be collectable and rare, and might be regarded as an investment, but I buy records to play - and if given a choice of colour would alway choose black (if only because it is easier to cue tracks)!

I can see your point.
but I buy records to play also, some I don't play as they are rare.
then I will buy the 180gram reissue these sound great!
And sound better than the original, sometimes.
BE great to see some of your collection Barry.

I have about 2'000 LP's and I wouldn't know the value of any of them spanning 40 years, but my prize one is a mint copy of The 4 Tops greatest hits on a white label that I took to a concert in 1984 and got it signed by the original group.

enjoy your music :)

I have three copies of the album Tori Amos wants buried, her first album Y Kant Tori Read. Once worth about £200 ish now less than £100 but with the increasing interest in vinyl maybe worth a bit more again.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Y_Kant_Tori_Read

Its a very good album in a similar vein to later period Berlin, Device, Blue Yonder, Boy Meets Girl but with a slight prog twist to it. I love this kind of electronic, pop, aor music.

I really don't understand why Tori doesn't want this ever re released.

Nothing spectacularly rare or valuable here, just three of the records that I was really pleased with at the time...

Japanese "Best Of Rainbow" - fabulous pressings, the discs are almost as thick and solid as dinner plates

The Stranglers "The Raven" - 3D cover

http://collectorsfrenzy.com/gallery/300602490104.jpg

Rush "Hemispheres" - picture disc (with added surface noise !) from the days when cover art mattered

The band were done when that was released. The Studio LP while they were an active band {As Joe mentions} was 'Afreaka!' i have recommended this LP a lot on AOS, it's on the Dawn label but has a very good sounding official CDee release on Esoteric recordings. Another good band in a simular vein was Cymande..

Album.Cheers, they were a great band imo.Yes i heard they had split when they did the second one, which is why i guess it took me a few years and £180 to get a copy  Also love Cymande! As soon as i heard one album,i had to have the rest of them.

There's an original copy of Afreaka! on ebay for £350! Think i'll stick with my re-press though!

Yeah, seen that... I'd pay a decent wedge for a copy but not that much.

I came across Demon Fuzz at a party in the 90's... I was at a 'blues' on Rock Street, Pitsmoor in Sheffield... dodgy (cos I'm from there ..lol - as well as other places in sheff) as you can get but the grooves were bloody good... lol

Glad to see someone else enjoying this album too. It doesn't pop up much amongst the rest of the psych/funk.

Another 'GREAT' LP is this one... (again, at the blues..etc)

Psycheground Group - Psycheground

This Italian band really does rock. Thing is nobody knows who they were. - For an original copy expect to pay over a grand. - The re-release can be got for about £30-£60 as only 500 (I think) were pressed.

I was still at school in the early 90's and listening to hardcore/jungle! I know next to nothing about psych/funk but want to build my collection of it up! Will check out the italian band when i get back from a local beer festival! Any others i should keep an eye out for?

Right how long have you got  I've been collecting records since the 60s and the collection is now many thousands, a lot I have bought over the years have become collectables and I have bought a lot at jumble sales and in charity shops over the years. Here is a very small, nay tiny selection

http://www.musicosis.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/collectable-comp.jpg

The Let It Be, is a first press box set complete with the Get Back book so it's worth around 6-700 squids. Even the Let It Be - Naked which has the free single and all inserts is worth around £40. I have all of the Beatles 13 studio albums in first or really early pressings. Sgt peppers I have both Mono and Stereo versions with all inserts. The Atomic Rooster is the version with the flute mix, so worth around £200.00 and I have two versions of the Who "Live at Leeds" both first pressings with all 12 inserts, the black ones were the first 300, the reds were the second batch and then they went blue. Crazy thing is the black ones are worth around £300.00 and the Red around £90.00 even though it could be number 301  I'm looking for a mint blue one to complete the set. I'm cataloguing and valuing them all for insurance purposes, but the real value is how good playing them makes me and the Mrs. feel. :)

Mines not a later issue it's a first press Mint/Mint and that is the value in the rare record guide and what is being asked for it HERE (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Atomic-Rooster-Self-Titled-1st-Pressing-FLUTE-MIX-NEAR-MINT-LISTEN-B4-BUY-/181422757570?pt=UK_Records&hash=item2a3da396c2)

And it's Paul or Mr Stewart if you must

Dunno why i said Stewart! Yes it's an early withdrawn issue...Gospel Record pricing means nothing to me.. This is something that winds me up because at the end of the day something 2nd hand is worth what you get for it IMHO not what written in a book.

Andre you're right a lot of these book valuations are barking, but I feel I need them for insurance valuation. Several years ago I lost over 20,000 negatives, prints and transparencies from my library, when the office above my basement office caught fire and the fire brigade's water had nowhere else to run. I had unique stuff of many 60s and 70s musicians. Because it was catalogued and had an agreed value with my insurance company I got a pay out, otherwise I could have lost the lot.

I was the Selector at a rockin' dance last night.
It ain't no sock hop.

Before I garage my 45s into their crates, here's a selection from the vinyl played, that may be described as "collectable".
Whatever, they're all high octane jivers, boppers or strollers.
