eBay hacked?

I just read that eBay lost our confidential data. But no messages from eBay so far about it. Anybody else heard that bit of news?

No email yet, apparently they are sending one to every member. Ebay have disclosed all users' name, address, DOB etc. but apparently not financial information. I imagine the Information Commissioner will be asking some questions but presumably nothing will actually happen since eBay are a US company and therefore immune from any penalties under the lap-dog attitude of HMG.

No better time for a hacker to grab ebay passwords than right now. Well maybe not quite true in the absence of an obvious security flaw, but given loads of pw changes going on, it has to be easier than normal.

Do the reverse of what the media generally tells you to. I've found it to be a good philosophy.

I haven't been on Ebay for that long i've forgotten my password. Maybe the scammers can send me an email and let me know what it is.

not I;m not a seller... its a password storage software for both Mac (I am a mac user) and Windows based machines.

I tend to have a lot of passwords for many different things, and change passwords on a regular basis... its worth using one letter, one special char, one number.

anyway that went off topic a little,, ebay should have notified people sooner of this attack as we pay for their service and they have a duty of care over our private information storage and data retrieval. I feel they didn;t as it would have driven share prices down somewhat.

Its all too late when an article appears on the bbc or any other media site informing us to do this sadly.. probably a good few weeks late, and in internet terms that's a least 17 dog years.

I had a request a couple of days ago to change password and another reminder (although i had changed password) yesterday.

I had two reminders as well. Seems one set of communications is ahead of the other.
