View Full Version : Munich Hi-End 2014 Hi-Fi Show
I'll be slinging some pics and videos up at the link below over the next few days/weeks. I'm sure I'll also be talking utter shite, so there's that for kicks too, LOL.

Teaser video. Much, much more to follow as time goes on.... the closest you will get to being there without being there.

The show was very busy this year, I felt it wasn't as big as the lat one, however the place was alive with energy.
Overall disappointed with the standard of sound quality and especially the rather dull audiophool music being played, hey ho.
For sheer room filling ability the Silver-tone room takes some beating, sheer presence is more than adequate, however like the other horn rooms it was very track dependent.
The Vivid G's did make some nice sounds, with Dickie in full flow with the demo's.
Living voice's uber horns, for em were better than last year, superb craftsmanship plus a Kondo lover's heaven, for me horns really do nothing for me, for others its their dream ticket.
Magico's horns I did get to hear, on some forums it was a bone of contention, I have heard these in the US a couple of times before and I haven't changed my mind on this occasion either, they were clearly 'honking' massive dynamics and presence for sure but just like the rest of the Magico's (with the possible exception of the Q1's) their ain't no magic in a Magico just a pumped up PMC with more slam and dynmaics (imho)
Burmester again surprised me considering it is their home show, a very disappointing sound last year it was dull as ditch water this year under whelming for other reasons, though a well laid out and branded room with good staff.
DCS managed to show that even using some respectable partnering equipment they can deliver zero musical involvement.
The Logan's did turn in a good sound for statics, better than I've heard them in a long time.
The Devialet room was nicely laid out, very corporate and slick, again typical Devialet a trendy Wendy dream everything in one box, great looking product just emotionless and sterile (imho)
For me the McIntosh 50's Americana room was very trick and smacked of Saatchi involvement, but very clever all the same.
Good to see the Brits in attendance :-Bob for Neat, Alan for Harbeth (with the new SLH5+), Funk Firm, Hifi Racks, Cyrus, Keith from Isotek, Paul form MSB plus a few more that have escaped my memory.
All in all an enjoyable event

Mine is anything but emotionless and sterile (and is currently blasting out Otis Redding's 'Mr Pitiful' to stunning effect). It's head and shoulders over anything else I've heard.

Hey you're in Bristol, Joe.
Bring it round here and plug into my Apogees for a 2nd opinion:) We'll compare it to my 211 monoblocks for giggles.
PM if interested.

It's an excellent and elegant piece of kit. Definitely not "sterile" here.
Guys
The Devialet is a well thought out, well researched product aimed originally at the audiophile who's good lady was breaking his gonads over too many large boxes within the shared domestic space.
Conversely the trendy Wendy's who wanted something for the upwardly mobile friends to discuss upon a evening discussion of the delicate pallet characteristics of a good vintage Châteauneuf-du-Pape whilst comparing the best method of investing Clarissa's inheritance.
Lastly the 'organised' audiophile who wishes to have a neat clean space with minimal clutter and prefers the more easy on the eye products.
The Devialet is really the thinking man's Bose, looks beautiful, nicely constructed, a great array of flexibility (Though non connectivity to a nas need addressing), big marketing budget, backed by a very large French corporate electronics company. Easy firmware updates.
It ticks a great many boxes for many people without question it also has one of the best remotes around (240/250/500/800 models) sexy is an understatement again beautifully built.
This is one of those products that has a great all round appeal, more so than many highly rated brands and it sells and I suspect before long there will be a model in the £2500-£3000 bracket as well.
Joe you feel it is 'head and shoulders' above anything else you have listen too which is all that matters to you, your ears have decided that this is a desirable product for you. I admire you strength of conviction as so many always seem to ask others "how does it sound to you?"
I am only expressing my personal opinion on the product which is valid to myself, currently I have two models which have been traded in against other products in the last couple of months.
A 500 pairing and a 170, both deliver a powerful, dynamic and well controlled sound, with a open sound stage and good separation. The 500 (two 240's bolted together) just being much more of the same and able to power much bigger speakers which they do well.
The are very accommodating to improved mains leads and isolation which can bring about noticeable improvements, however for myself they lack real texture, note decay and sheer presence and which some speakers they just don't deliver the results you would expect from £20000+ amplification (imho)
However they do go a long way to addressing the dilemma of how many boxes do I need.
The product is doing and will continue do very well here in the UK, I know of at least one dealer who sold close to forty units last year and will exceed this easily this year. The manufacturer has 'insisted' that more units are to be sold in the UK so the distributor has been looking outside his usual high end outlets for other avenues of sales streams.
One of the most innovative products in the last three years to emerge in audio Devialet should be congratulated on their product.
It's maybe the sort of product B&O should be making or have made.
Sounded average driving Magicos in Munich 2011. I quite liked one of them (forget which model) at Bristol 2014. Be curious to hear one in my system Joe. Hint.;)
Munich thread getting bigger:) Loads of pic slideshows/vids to come. Loads there now.
Not sure that Joe does 'bake-offs'.
I could be mistaken, but in all the years I've known him on forums, I can't recall him ever having had anyone from a forum round visiting, or him going to visit anyone else (unless he's kept it all very quiet)...
Bit of an unsociable old curmudgeon is Joe [but we lurves him]! ;)
Marco.
Hi Justin,
I noticed looking at some of the Stereophile reports there were lots of lovely Tubes glowing at the Munich show.
You noticed looking at the Stereophile reports?
How to hit a man below the belt. Mine is far superiror! Loads of HD widescreen videos, MASSIVE high res high quality slideshow pics, hundreds of them, and a man who has NO connection with the hi-fi manufacturers telling it like it is.
I dunno.:rolleyes::scratch::mental:

High power class D amps have actually been pretty good with the Duettas. The best being one built with JFET input stage and Hypex N400 module by Jon at Reality Audio. Unsurprising I guess as he is the refurb man, but it bettered Lyngdorf and Rowland 301s which were both good to good plus.

For 13 £25 Amazon vouchers from Nat West CC points accumulated over the years + a bit more yeah I'm happy.
Took me a while to learn to keep my fingers off the mics though:D
Dumping loads more media on the Martin Logan forum today...
Nice EMT preamp would - love to try that in my system for a while.
There's quite a bit of media up now at the link in the first post if you can be arsed to go have a look.

Yes - especially the facility to choose one of four pickups, each with their own individual loading and gain settings. I have four TTs - perhaps I should buy one?
Why not? You can afford it! ;)
It's defo on my 'things to buy list, before popping my clogs'...
Marco.
It's 18 grand! Yes it looks pretty cool and it is an EMT but even so 18 grand just for a head amp....?

I'm sure when it was first on the market about 4? years ago it was listed at about £12k, might be mistaken though.
I'd be interested if there was a version with 2 phono and 4 line inputs as my EMT's have on board phono amps and I'd rather have one of these for my 930 http://www.jpvanvliet.nl/10131.html

Looking at various forums around the world there seems to be quite a few showgoers who thought the Sibaltone room produced the best sound at the show using the WE12a & 13a supplemented witha 597a. This was a comparison against some of the best speakers the world has to offer at this time. Along a similar vein, there also seems to be quite a stir about the quality of sound reproduction fron the newly installed Denman horn at the science museum. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-27483035 Both use Western Electric 555 drivers (eltus copies in the case of sibaltone although they own lots of originals).
Given that these date form the late 20's to early 30's, can we then draw the conclusion that we have generally lost our way in the pursuit of the perfect sound reproduction in the trade of to domestic acceptability and SWMBO?

It does seem to me that the longer folk spend in the hi-fi game the more they tend gravitate towards the vintage designs of speakers, mainly horns, tannoy DC or electrostatic panels, so you may have something there. Do we have any members who have been in the hobby for years but still prefer a conventional 2 way or a WAF tower?

Very true. It takes a while to wean one's self off 'flash and shiny' and learn what really works. ;)
(mind you, I've been hooked on Tannoys since I heard the Golds around 1971)

Yes I would agree but thats only half the journey that gets us back into the 1950's or late 40's. To complete the pilgrimage it seems we need to migrate back to the birth of high fidelity and the horns of the late 20's/early 30's.

OMG that is just horrendous:eek:. Even my cats wouldn't give that houseroom. Bling doesn't begin to describe it. Just slightly overdone methinks. Whatever happened to restrained good taste?
Bling? Lol - it's old school 'science lab' look, about as divorced from bling as one could possibly imagine! 'Bling' = shiny gold shite. And of course, anything with VU meters on it is automatically ice-cool, yeah baby! :exactly:
I think we just have to face the fact, old chap, that you and I have very different tastes/approaches in audio, which is fine, and just as it should be, or the world would be a boring place :)

I have to agree.. that is fuckugly. OINK! OINK!
The EMT is lovely but I would prefer it in battleship grey (you know the colour, like the old Ferrograph series 4,5,6 reel machines) and not that hammerite finish, seems to clash with the print but pictures can be deceptive, might look fookin lovely in the flesh.

Fugly with a major FUG, dude. Can you imagine how much would be lopped off of the price if it wasn't dripping in such pretentious frippery? ;)

I do agree. I'm not keen on the hammerite finish either, although it is in keeping with some of their turntables, (a more 'sober' style of finish would've been better), but to associate a company such as EMT with 'bling', is to totally miss the point.

Hmmmm... it did sound incredibly impressive, mainly due to huge scale and mad imagery - literally bouncing off the back walls during Stairway. Delicious tone too. But it is completely impractical, suffers from audible distortion and colouration - which is in an obscure way an attraction too.
Also, as I say in my report, a bit of a cheat with modern GIP drivers used with really old WE horns which may well have been fettled beyond recognition for all I know. Super expensive valve amps used too.
For all that, bloody impressive, and WELL WORTH the effort of displaying it. Massive respect to Joe and the rich Korean in the video.
Btw, Justin, a word of thanks to you for taking the trouble to share your wonderful pictures of the show with us - top man, and much appreciated! :youtheman:

The EMT was shot through a pain of glass but that camera is remarkably colour true. Unlike your average Samsung mega colour hype that affects their TVs and cameras. Actually most edge lit LED TVs these days have completely missed the plot WRT to colour accuracy. But that is another story.
I like it as it is. Looks really different and really quite wacky.

lol... indeed.. I know some studios that still use CRT's because the calibration is much more accurate...
Regarding the EMT, I like it... but that under finish just confuse the controls for me...

 Sacrilege!!! I'll have to send the boys round to paint your MG's a tasteful shade of lilac :eyebrows:
Classic idler drive EMT's are traditionally hammertone grey.
Granted later direct drives were in smooth braunbuch grey but for an authentic EMT retro look it has to be the hammertone finish.

Something seriously wrong if you heard distortion as the 555 is a superb driver especially when run full range. Were you off axis at close quarters?
I think the use of GIP 555's was more to do with marketing than anything else as the Korean owner of Sibaltone probably has more originals than you can shake a stick at. I doubt that the horns have been fettled in any way due to their rarity. The valve amps used are beyond the pockets of mere mortals but so are the original WE amps they could have brought with them.
Now the chinese have jumped on the bandwagon the offerings from Line Magnetic look quite attractive especially the 212 SET. I doubt they will produce copies of the 12a & 13a though as the construction is very complex but who knows, with modern CNC machining it might be a viable proposition.

As Joe said the 555s were doing everything over 8K. I'd say any distortion heard was below that.
What was interesting was asking them to play Stairway on the inner GIP only speakers. It was still freaking awesome. Quite clearly you can do very well with just GIP speakers, and the huge GIPs they had in 2011 only serves to confirm this.
Anyway, 39 Silbatone stills here for those who are into that sort of thing (https://picasaweb.google.com/110178171641889521518/MunichHiEnd2014Silbatone?authkey=Gv1sRgCJPF-ri_rrGEgAE&noredirect=1#). Good light in there so amazing pics assured. Hit slideshow and enjoy:)

The 555's are normally naturally rolled off at 200Hz without any crossover and only go up to about 6KHz although the GIP's may go out to 8K. the 597a's take over from there.
That's the beauty of them, 200 to 6K putting any crossover distortion outside the frequencies most critical to the human ear. The only trade off is the requirement for a bloody big horn. Visitors to the Science Museum are finding out just how good sound reproduction can be with the monster Denman horn and single 555 compression driver ;)
Well I got that wrong then! The 555s are the compression drivers feeding WE horns. Shows how much I know about Western Electric.
I am an idiot and I am winning. Not! I really must do some homework on these things.
A few Magico snaps since we've been talking compression drivers...

I lost patience and I am sure a lot of others did as a conversation with the chap in the blue suit must have taken 25 minutes before I left the room. I never went back. I just thought they were plain inconsiderate, but maybe a sale was taking place. Who knows.
Nicely made things. Probably beaten by the Silbatone setup but hey.

It's €18,000, so about £16,000. And no, I don't think I can quite afford it (I would have to do without foreign travel, drinking expensive wine etc.) But it would look rather nice alongside the EMT390. :)
Apropos its appearence - well I quite like the scientific/industrial chic look, but for the sum asked I would want the legends engraved rather than silk-screen printed. Also I would want it to be fully-balanced with XLR connectors! So maybe £25,000?

It's the bling that keeps the price up.
Some ELROG 211s. These looked rather different to the 2011 debut. From memory they felt more substantial in the hand than these did, though I maybe imagining it. I was quoted 2200 Euros for a quad on the spot. I didn't go for it, but I would be curious to here some in my amps.

Actually looking back at the 2011 snaps the ELROG has changed a lot - wider glass envelope, much smaller teat etc etc.
The Thomas Mayer 211 amps looked great. The sound from the speakers wasn't great. More snaps here. (https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/110178171641889521518/albums/6018571745347503665)

Cheap and crappy... lol - End of.
Same, I like some gold stuff but it can get out of hand as shown.
Video a bit ruined in the first minute by some odd electrical noise. Think the speakers are around 70K Euro. Some Yello plays later on.
Pleasant enough sound from these at the show.

What was that plinky-plonk jazz they were playing? It was quite good. I'm enjoying these pics and videos btw Justin.

Thinking about these Hornfabrik's playing Yello - they really seemed to lack any sense of dynamics/power. Yello didn't sound like Yello to me - not exciting enough. So pleasant but definitely lacking grunt/balls.

I had written Kharma off as being boring, lifeless animals. However, with the Orpheus electronics and these particular Kharmas, that situation has changed. Nothing special by show standards - but definitely not too bad at all.

Grimm. Clean, clear sounding in the metal driver kind of a way. Sounding pretty OK when I was in there. Not my bag really but a nice, clean aesthetic that I reckon I could smuggle into my lounge without wrath and loathing.
As with all speakers using metal drivers, you need to be careful, I reckon. Can sound great with some material and totally fall apart with other stuff. If I was auditioning them I'd be sure to sling a lot of different genres at them.

Tidal speakers and amps. In 2011 I went into the Tidal room loads of times. I didn't do that hear as I was interested in other things, but I seriously rate Tidal. I think they have to be some of the best box loudspeakers out there - well, at least to my ears. Tidal amps too which weren't present in 2011.
Wilson, Sonus Fibber etc etc take a listen to these and learn a thing or two. Just better speakers I think.

The room to listen to Dan's amps. Only not if you don't like DCS and Wilson kit:D I felt it sounded a little constrained and a bit unnatural in a very solid state sort of a way. I don't think Dan's latest offerings are euphonic in any sense. By no means a disaster but in no way was it "up there".
All these opinions are exactly that, though. Just opinions. Some might have liked this room. If they said they did to me, though, I'd just look at them in a rather disbelieving way and sort of think "Hmmm":D

Above pics - leather clad Absolare 50W single ended amps/preamp and Kodo TT. More stuff you cant afford or simply won't spend that much money on. The CEC, while nice, doesn't really fit. A leather bound digital solution is most definitely required here.
Paired with Altair speakers from Rockport. Very nice, I think. I'd really like to have checked this one out more with my own material in my own time.
The video gets better that it looks initially when the camera gets some light. Tough room to take pics in hence use of flash in one shot.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGIAXt72Qrg
I actually seriously doubt the Absolare monos have enough low end power to drive those 15 inch Rockport woofers to be quite frank. Slam some massive reggae on it at volume and I bet it'd fail.
Possibly, but the piano and sax sounded wonderful! If the speakers are efficient enough, and most importantly a relatively easy load, you'd be surprised how much 'balls' those valve monoblocks will have, playing pretty much any kind of music! ;)
Not sure about the 'leatherette trim', though... Perhaps if they came with a free pair of matching pants?
Marco.
Spill beer or dribble on that leather and you're not going to be too happy.
The Altair's are 91DB but 4 Ohms. According to my Musical Fidelity amp power calculator, which I found in the study today (remember when all they talked about was power at the time of the SuperChargers etc? The calculator is from that time), it is in the poor quality category assuming the Absolare's just deliver 50 Watts into 4 Ohms. Some valve amps I believe actually deliver less into 4 Ohms than the 8 Ohm rating.
It is difficult not to be influenced by what you hear through the Sony's mics if you're playing it back into a high quality system. Tiny little electrets I suspect but it is stereo and it is wwwaaayyyy better than my old Samsung.
MBL IMHO getting it a bit wrong. That room, the same as 2011s, is huge. Yet the listening area fenced off by plants was too small. Just look at the amount of people crammed in to a small space trying to cop a listen. For that reason, and the fact I have heard them twice before in HK and Munich, I didn't spend long in there.
So here's a short video only, of me annoying those in there for your and my benefit:D. One of the world's best no doubt I think. I tried to encourage Jerry to go out there this year but no effect - he still has to hear these sometime, though:)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTb2_n8t9JI
Actually, the sound via a high quality system is still definitely a bit shit on these videos. Twas a camera upgrade for 2014. In 2017 if I go again, I might try and take a high quality mic for a giggle. That said, high quality mic recordings of my gear here really don't come across that well. Room acoustics really get emphasized.
You are recording a loudspeaker playing a recording. Not easy ;) I can imagine it sounds bad through something decent. It should be possible to get a representative recording though, if they let you calibrate and sound test and so forth first...
That level of effort just isn't practical really. Which is why I am a fan of point and click cameras. Quick and easy, no bollocks.
Reality seems to dictate it is an impossible dream. You just have to go, listen, ponder, and work out what might be good for you. All good fun, really. If hi-fi was an easy problem to solve, it'd just be boring:)
. If hi-fi was an easy problem to solve, it'd just be boring:)
True :) And we would just sit around listening to music all day....wasting our lives :)

Lol - you didn't take any of that bollocks seriously, did you? It was nothing but a marketing tool to help sell MFs behemoth amps of the day! Talk about superficially glossing over a subject and deliberately missing the much bigger picture...
Marco.
Well, I've had 450 Watts of Parasound on my speakers, and I prefer the 80 Watt 211 based special. So, no. Probably worse on the MF scale than the Altair Absolare match;) Still seems to go loud without fucking up.
Power! And more of it is required plus 15 inch bass drivers. Let's get hi-fi back on track :) Is there a link to the MF calculator? I have read of this before but the details are hazy.
Lol... Amen to 15" drivers! In terms of power, however, as is often said, 'valve watts' are different. You'll need to ask someone more technically minded than I, however, for a suitable explanation.
All I can say, from practical experience, is that I've compared 450W SS power amps, pro and domestic versions, in the same system (with big Tannoys), as my 50W Copper amp, and in terms of out-and-out 'grunt'/bass heft and drive (not to mention the usual beguiling sonic attributes of valve amps in the midrange), the Copper amp smoked its much more powerful (on paper) SS counterparts...!
:exactly:
Marco.

Not that I am aware of. Here is a photo of it, set for the Absolare's 50Watts against 91DB.
I'll sell it to you for 20 quid. Collector's items you know:lol:

AvantGarde Zero and Duo. The Zeros sounded really quite good. But when I was in there they switched over to the Duos - which sounded quite a lot better. Still, big price difference.
In 2011 I wold have told you the best loudspeaker system in the world was probably the Trios and basshorns. That demo was in this room. Yet there's something I heard in both the Trios and Duos that didn't sound as accurate as 2011. Why the hell this is I don't know and I found myself being a bit disappointed TBH. All I can say is when things are right, the Trio/basshorn setup is truly stunning.
Maybe I am the variable. I just don't think so though somehow. Maybe everything else just got better. Nope, don't buy that either. Maybe the new AG amp isn't that great. Nope, a Vitus was doing the work on the Trios - but that room defo wasn't as big as 2011 by a margin.

Anyway, Richard, the parallel with Josh - point taken. Actually, shame Josh and his gear wasn't there. Need some mercury vapour rectifiers to liven the place up, I reckon. Love to have heard Josh's gear on the WE/GIP speakers, or some of his own monstrous horns.

Love the look of Pathos kit. I hope the Logos MK2 sounds better than the MK1 which I owned for awhile, heavy and ponderous in the bass, stodgy is the best way I would describe it. The Classic 2 deft, delicate but with balls when the music required it. The way I used to describe the sound difference between the two was the Classic 2 was a lithe, highly fit, uber trained ballet dancer and the Logos same but having hit the chocolates way too much and no where near as fit. Or ballet shoes, swapped for Wellington boots would be a good way of putting it too.
I thought the casting of mine was very good.
I went to Classic 2 from Logos and passed the Logos on to someone who liked that presentation. I still have the Classic 2. I thought the Classic 3 lost some of the magic though both visually, square vs rounded transformer tops and it was leaner, brighter and a bit more forward sounding, whereas the Mk2 was sweeter and more beguiling, more musical to my ear.
Regards Neil

I think it's not too bad apart from the silly red bits in the middle.

I would love to go next year, always wanted to go to this but never got round to it!:lol:
Justin,
you have produced a fantastic rolling report on the Munich show - I applaud your in depth coverage and quality. The Photographs and videos are excellent and indeed would put to shame ANY other Internet HIFi blog or magazine,
AOS should give you a
PS - you were right when you corrected me about valves at the show - your Post shows about 95% more than anything else on the Net!!
Unison Research proving the Italians don't always get it right IMHO.
I've got this feeling I am going to do the "every TT at Munich" post:lol::eyebrows:;) Just for the f&*% of it.

I often wonder how much this sort of gear would cost if it was just stuck in a standard Maplin's case with no bells and whistles. I bet it would knock 75% off of the price.

No idea if it sounds any good but it looks ostentasteless :)

Yuk! - Not for me.
Estelon not sounding great - in all honesty I really felt they sound like some quite cheap speakers apart from in the scale aspect which they definitely had - if you strip the appearance away and allow it not to influence you. You can height adjust them as the top part slides up and down. Really not good IMHO.
Massive and I mean huge Vitus amps made a few appearances at the show. I don't think it is the culprit here, though. The speakers are. The video really brings home the size of the Vitus.

I am an enigma, plain and simple:)
TBH though considering the amount of professionals out there doing it for a living, I kinda wonder what they're playing at. Are they just lazy? Doing this really hasn't been that difficult or really that time consuming. They should be bettering my efforts of quick whizz around the show with a cheap camera (by professional standards).
Big, big Marten speakers - Coltrane Supreme 2. I think they needed more space than they had. I didn't spend much time in here but I wasn't too impressed. I will say however, that I really liked some Marten loudspeakers in 2011, but they were much smaller - Coltrane 2 I think they were. So they aren't necessarily naff as a breed.

Meanwhile, back down on planet earth, we have some Yamaha kit driving Vienna Acoustics speakers. I liked this room. I think the current Yammy styling is pretty good too. Sounds relative to costs well up here. Video is nice and long which is a sign I enjoyed it I guess.
So happily - good stuff, rather than having to slate off really expensive gear because it just doesn't seem to deliver the goods. At least during the relatively short time you get exposed to it.

That Yammie stuff looks a bt tasty. Much classier than some of the high end bling. Yet massively cheaper...what's that all about? Do wealthy people have uniformally bad taste?
Also you must realise, Justin, that we will now be expecting a show report of this magnitude every year ? ;)
Have to agree with Justin the Estelon's on this one, just sounded like quality hifi, not particularly musical, but then thy other rooms with the Vitus and the son of Vitus electronics did have a very similar 'Hifi'ness to the overall sound. Didn't do anything particularly wrong it just failed to engage you.

Not sure Maplins sell any cases that are a metre wide. The pictures don't quite reveal the scale of that Unison amp.

But they do sell cute little quadcopters! 5 Maplins employees stood around playing with one the other day.

Seems the Logos 2 is cut from the same fat cloth http://www.6moons.com/audioreviews2/pathos/1.html

I agree with your agreement:) They seemed to sound quite smooth and inoffensive but no real get up and go.
Ein, zwei, drei, vier... TT in a suitcase. Now there's a concept! And for analogue junkies, 136 pictures of TTs, RCMs and tonearms here. (https://plus.google.com/photos/110178171641889521518/albums/6022240382456087441?banner=pwa)

I looked through the turntables. Love the Transrotor back lit stands!
That sony Rx100 certainly takes some nice piccies Justin. I was considering buying one as it is so small and compact, think Sony is on version 3 now!
Yeah it does seem to. People who take good photos just have good cameras I think, given a basic ability to frame a shot.
That camera is just so consistent though. It shot hardly any lemons. You can get a MK1 for a lot less than the Amazon price. Buy one without hesitation. Big plus is the supporting s/w is just lovely.

Yeah fantastic in the flesh too. The only contemporary Transrotor I like is this one. Had me drooling a bit but I just don't like the design. If I was going to buy a new TT I would be thinking seriously about the STST Guy is peddling. Now that's a nice mechanical design with thought given to the job in hand.

Ascendo - and another amp based on the KR T-1610 valve. Huge. Ridiculously so.
I've heard some of their ribbon hybrids sound very good though in the past.
You will notice the rather odd looking brass dish in the room. Well, that obviously made the sonics transcend all other rooms. I would buy one immediately - it will be the last system upgrade you need or indeed will ever make. That's a promise. Honestly.:mental:
Actually no comments on the sonics - the music was dreadful and at low volume. An excellent way to sell nothing but maybe that is just me. Hear the sigh of desperation I emit in the video. A good Sunday morning post for some I expect, though.
