View Full Version : Interconnect confusion
I have been trying to follow all the threads on the interconnect`s :doh: can someone put up a general post of whats what? As I need six set`s to rebuild my system. Diy is ok need leads for the following
headphone amp ,dac, cassette player, radio tuner pre amp to powe amp .
As I can`t work the cheaper the better decided if I am going to build diy cable I will be using Neutrik NYS373 plugs just want clarification what is a good general lead to use my system is nothing special but still need interconnects.

From what I have read the Van Damme Pro Grade XKE instrument cable - this is what is used in the Ultra Black interconnects.
The problem is, it may not be the best for your system.

Gerry, as Kevin says, this is the current favourite (http://www.vdctrading.com/shop/van-damme-cable/audio/analogue-single-cable/van-damme-pro-grade-classic-xke-instrument/van-damme-pro-grade-classic-xke-instrument-cable-black-per-metre/) of Marco and one that Craig also likes.
You could buy enough raw cable for 6 set of interconnects for about £20 with delivery, so it's also super cheap :)

Jason,
I don't like the Van Damme Ultra Black/White interconnects.
I LOVE them!!!! :)
I am generally a cable sceptic and only really believe in the efficacy of decent quality speaker cable. And before i restart a cable war, if others want stuff rolled on the thighs of Nubian virgins only when there is no R in the month, fine by me :).
I have made my own in the past - out of interest more than anything else, largely the TNT CAT 5 recipies.
For most purposes, including SUT to phono stage, I find the Klotz Double Shielded MC5000 OFC Cable stuff perfectly good and very reasonably priced. Redbandmusic on eBay sells them: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Klotz-Double-Shielded-MC5000-OFC-Stereo-Pair-RCA-Male-Interconnect-1-0m-/251525628786?pt=UK_Computing_Sound_Vision_Audio_Ca bles_Adapters&hash=item3a90188372.

Until recently Rega used Klotz AC110 in their Couple interconnects and very good it is too.
