What are the alternatives for someone who insists on buying a brand new 1200/1210. I have heard they are still available in japan, is this true ?

Not to my knowledge. NOS ones appear on ebay, but for crazy prices (e.g., £1500).
Another option, since new spare parts are still available, would be to use these to assemble one from scratch. It seems most parts are readily available, with the exception of the main PCB and (oddly) the rubber base; though some parts sellers do say to get in touch if you want something that they don't list, so there's a chance these could be sourced. Otherwise, it should be possible to assemble a very nearly brand new 1210 from spare parts. But some of these aren't cheap, so it could still end up costing a fair bit, but probably still cheaper than £1500!

They do give this warning:
'This is a Japan release. You will need a Voltage Stepdown Transformer SOLD SEPARATELY'
Apart from that this looks very tasty. These are MkVI! The price of $840 will be US.

I have purchased cables from Joynetmall in the past and found their service to be ok.

B&H photo in New York bought all the remaining US stock when it was discontinued. They still a have them for a rather large amount of money, but they are new old stock. Universal transformer as well. Nice !

This is specified as having a 100V transformer, however it may be a universal and just not specified. If it is a 100V only, buy (or make) an upgrade PSU and you will still be money ahead.
