Sad death of HR Giger, artist, album sleeve designer, architecture and industrial designer. Giger died after falling down stairs - what a waste.

What a stupid waste and what a sad event. Brilliant artist who has left his mark , even if it was only through Alien for most people.

I've always treasured the Celtic Frost albums he did artwork for and after listening to the new Triptykon album as little tribute to his work today I think I'll be investing in another for my collection.

I would have been around 6 or 7 when I first saw Alien, my parents were watching it and didn't know I was watching through the gap in the living room door.... That film gave me nightmares for weeks to come. By the time I was a teenage metalhead his art was all over my bedrooom walls and I was fascinated by it. My parents never approved of the 'penis landscape' poster which came with the Dead Kennedys LP I owned and sadly it was never seen again. Shortly after that the posters changed to stylish film noir and 50s stuff intended to be less intimidating to any young ladies which may have found themselves back to mine for a smoke!

So for providing the backdrop to much of my teenage years thank you Mr Giger. RIP

Giger is not the only one to pass away Patrick Woodroffe also passed away at the weekend, he too was 74. Anyone who has the Dave Greenslade 'The Pentateuch of the Cosmogony' LP & Book will know who he was..

Oh no I love his art, got loads of books by him. While in art college I made ceramic miasma generators, influenced by his work in that book/album.... that's awful Andre
