Posting LP's off

Any idea which is the best & most economical way to post off LP's? see i have loads of LP's im gradually selling off but i always draw a blank when people ask for postal costs & in most cases the postage does put people off buying, in which i always tend to undercut myself to make the deal look better i really should not have to do this..

So any ideas?

My Hermes is probably the cheapest - £2.98 up to 1kg, £3.98 up to 2kg for a 3 day collect and deliver service. Insured value £50 (add £1.20 to insure up to £100).

That sounds good Keith but waiting around for pick up is no good & as were in the sticks there's no drop of station.. Anyone know how the post office prices for size & weight?

I took two LP's to the PO the other day two record mailers parcel taped together to make one package. He wanted £8.00 to post it off, i argued & argued with him saying that is was way over the top & it would go small parcels he said it was not, he basically would not have it so i just posted off as i was en route to work & did not want to take it with me, i will never ever use the PO to post a parcel off again.

Tis is never right is it chaps?

Andre, if using a courier like Hermes or Collect Plus, why don't you organise a collection from your place of work? Alternatively, do you have a local shop or business that you are friendly with where you could leave your packages for collection during the day?

As you know I work for one of the big courier companies and we do this all the time.

I used Parcel2go as the comparison website for pricing. The last box I sent went via Collect+. It turned out my local shop was a pick up point for them.
At the end of the day you are going to have to measure a mailer and weigh on some home scales with one and then 2lps. Only weigh you are going to find out.
Royal Mail second class signed for is £3.90 (£2.80 no signature) Size 35cm x 35cm x 8cm up to 2kg.

I would complain and demand a refund.

The package that you sent me Andre definitely fell into the Small Parcel category ( Up to 45 x 35 x 8 cms ) and weighed 1250 gms. Your post office have incorrectly classed it as a Medium Parcel.

For 2nd class you should have been charged £3.80, or £4.90 for signed for delivery.

For the service Royal Mail provided you have beeen overcharged by £4.20, I'd definitely take it further.

That's it Dave. I knew he was wrong but argued with me about it, i was in a hurry to get the work & had no time for his crap no longer & had to post it. It's not the first time believe me. It's not the money it's the fact that they seem to be over charging on a regular basis even when you tell them so..

A seller on our fav Auction site wants to charge me £7 for standard post to send one LP! i asked why the extreme rate for a single LP! Answer: well i certainly am not paying all the fees out of my own pocket.. This is what it's coming to.
