Valves for Sale

I have a selection of valves for sale, all NOS and with only a few hours use except where stated. All these valves will work superbly in the appropriate stages of Croft pre/power amps. I mention this as Croft valve rolling seems a popular pastime on this forum :)


One pair Cifte triple mica, silver plate 5751, around 100 hours use, one of the finest 5751 valves available: £90
One Haltron triple mica, silver plate 5751: £SOLD
One pair NOS Ei Grey Plate 12AX7: £30

One pair Tungsram E80cc, superb sounding ECC82 replacement, provided your amp can provide the extra heater current. Great in the line stage of Croft 25R: £25

One pair new production JJ EC99, good for 25R line stage, series 7 input position (reduced sensitivity): £18

If anyone else is looking for 5751s, the Ciftes are absolutely superb. Bettered only by Mullard CV4004 in my Croft phono stage (and some may well prefer them....)

They were supplied as a matched pair. I don't have measured test data to confirm this, but channel matching is excellent when the two valves are used in a phono preamp.

As I say in the ad, NOS with only a few hours use.
NOS restated in the case of the Ei's to distinguish from new production.
No intention to mislead. OK?

OK, it's just that most people take NOS to mean just that; NEW Old Stock. If you listed them as Old Stock, or original production (that's probably the best description, IMO), then people like me, who are looking for unused valves, wouldn't get confused. I'm getting old, you know!
I once bought some binding posts on ebay listed as OFC, and when I checked them they were brass. I pointed this out, privately, to the seller, and he put me on his banned list! I found out when I went to buy some more, to match. I didn't mind them being brass at that price, in fact I expected it, I just thought he might want to change his description in case someone else complained about it. Which is quite likely, but that's his problem now.

I would happily edit the post for clarification purposes, but the "edit" button seems to have disappeared.
But honestly, I think it's clear to anyone reading the post what they would be getting if they bought the valves.
Personally, I would rather buy a valve that had been tested in use for a couple of hours rather than a completely untried one.
